They aired a story regarding this on my local news in New Haven, CT. Why is it that every person that has died at Disney has had a heart defect. I just think Disney is too scared to admit that the G-Forces are too much?!?!
The medical examiners are doing the auoptsies, not Disney. The medical examiners are the ones releasing the information about a congenital heart defect, not Disney.
And you are right. For someone with a heart defect, the G-forces are too much. That's why they have signs posted on those rides warning folks not to ride if you have a bad back, bad heart, are pregnant etc.
The difference is that the folks who do not know they have a heart defect are the ones dying.
There are times when things are just no one's "fault".
My first thought is there must have been an underlying issue because as far as coasters go this one is pretty tame. It kind of reminded me of one they opened at Six Flags Great America in the early 80's called the Demon, only I think RnR is a shorter ride. My opinion was it was ok, but not worth waiting in line for since we have bigger thrill coasters close to home. I thought the neon paint stuff was cool. I just couldn't imagine the ride would kill someone healthy other than if they weren't properly restrained and fell out.
There are all kinds of theories on why these things happen at Disney. While I don't think there's anything "wrong" with Disney, in fact their rides seem very safe and well maintained, just consider the number of people who have their first "real" theme park/amusement park experience at WDW. We live very close to an amusement park so it's part of our normal summer routine but lots of people don't live 15 mins away from roller coasters. I guess I'm saying that maybe they don't know about these conditions before they get on a thrill ride at Disney because they've never really been on one before.
