Automatic Pool Cleaners...Advice

Hello,

I have an inground pool and use a Kreepy Krawly but it really doesn't climb the sides and doesn't clean up real well, so I have been looking into purchasing a Aquabot or Dolphin electric robotic cleaner. After opening the pool after the winter I have a layer of silt on the bottom (backyard is next to expressway) that I have to vacuum out on waste and keep refilling the pool (to avoid it going into the filter)

Anybody here use either of these. Would like to hear if they are worth the expense. I really hate to vacuum the pool.....

We had a Kreepy Krawly tha didn't clean the sides as well as we wanted. We bought a Polaris and it does a great job. It cleans the sides well. The only thing that happens is that it gets stuck on the landing going into the pool from time to time.

You must clean the filter at least once a week to keep the flow adequate to make the Polaris work at the proper flow rate. Also, the bands inside the unit need to be changed yearly to make sure that the tension is correct on the wheels.

I agree....

We have had a Polaris for around 8 years and the thing still does a great job. It could use a good tune up though.

It does get stuck on our walk in and the seat area that we have, but it does a great job.

We also run the Polaris with no bag when we shock. It keeps the shock stirred up.

which polaris cleaner do you have? does it use the return lines or the skimmer line?
