Quick question about the automatic 18% gratuity for parties of six or more...

For our upcoming trip in December, we have seven in our party, however, three of those seven are children under 3 :dance3: (my son who will turn 3 on our trip and my twin daughters who will be just 12 months). So my question is -- will the automatic gratuity be added in our situation? It's not a problem if it is - in fact, it will probably make things easier, but I was just wondering what we should expect. Also, we have two separate reservations (dining plans) - DH and I, and Grandpa and his girlfriend. Whose "bill" would they tack the gratuity onto? Or do they divide it evenly? Again, not a big deal - either one of us would be happy to pay the tip... just wondering what to expect.

Thanks so much for all of your help!

On a side note... I called at 7am this morning (today was our 180 day) and we got EVERY ADR we wanted (including Le Cellier)! Woohoo! :cool1:

Well, the children will count towards your total size as far as dining goes. However, since you have two seperate reservations, you will not be a total party of 6 on either.

Because you have seperate reservations, there is no guarantee that you will be sitting together or even have the same server.

If you do not have the same server, you will not be charged the auto grat under these circumstances. If you do, you probably will.

I'm sorry, I probably explained it wrong. We have two separate *resort and dining plan* reservations. Our ADRs are for a party of seven (including three children). So, it sounds like we'll have the tip added automatically?

For our trip in Sept, we will also be considered a party of 6 - 5 adults and a 1 year old. When I made our ADR's, I was told that we would be considered a party of 6 and that the 18% gratuity would automatically be added to our dining bill. No problem, makes for less hassle for me trying to figure out the correct tip.

Yes, you will be assessed the 18% auto grat. When you are seated tell your server that you will be using separate checks. The 18% will be billed based on what each party orders not split 50/50. When you present your room key for the deduction of credits only those items that correspond with your room key will be charged and auto grat added. Same for the others dining with you.

is counted towards the headcount for the gratuity, age or whether they eat or not is irrelevent.

I've been trying to figure out how we will handle almost the same question.
I have two rooms at POFQ but they gave us two separate reservation numbers. We have two teens, 1 child and three adults. All our ADR's are together under one number. I have no problem with the 18% in fact we always have left more than that in previous years. My problem is in order to have the proper meal tickets taken from our keys (1 child on one room key set) do we ask for two bills and then separate grats? I feel silly even worrying about this:confused3 but right now I think either way we will pay all grats with cash. Any thoughts:idea: , thanks.

Just let your server know who is together (Meaning on the same room card and thus the same dining plan) and your server will give you the proper receipts.

It sounds like you're 5 Adults 1 Child (as the teens will count as Adults on the plan)

Room 1
2 Adults
1 Child

Room 2
3 Adults

When you go for a TS meal, make sure your server takes 2 Adult and 1 Child Credit from one card and 3 Adult credits from that specific card.
