Autographs - Especially Pixar Fest Characters

So, I am a die-hard autograph collector, but have found many new characters and some of the old ones post-COVID don't seem to sign any more. If anyone that goes over the next couple of weeks can sound off to let me know what the autograph situation is for the special meet and greets for Pixar Fest and in general at DL and DCA, I would so appreciate it! Don't want to get my hopes up for a bunch of new and unique autographs and be disappointed. I also may choose not to wait in line for some characters if I know they do not sign.

I was at the parks a week ago and met quite a few of the Pixar characters. I did ask whether they signed (I am also a die hard autograph collector!) and was told by the CM that they do NOT, unfortunately. This was for the characters that met in the Fantasy Faire area (Dug/Russell, Wade/Ember, Ian/Barley, and Luca/Alberto)... However, I noticed that Mei-Lin and Ming (her mom) are in DCA meeting again! I waited 3 hours to meet them during Lunar New Year festivities and can confirm that they DID sign, so I imagine they would sign again. Hiro also signed an autograph as well. Hope this helps!

When it comes to autographs especially Disney character autographs many people who are autograph collectors who collect various types of autographs whether it is a celebrity's autograph to autographs of sports stars there's one thing that many autograph collectors do is go to Disneyland to mainly meet characters so that they can collect as many autographs as they can. But when it comes to new characters being introduced at Disneyland the autographs of the new characters are usually the first ones that the autograph collectors go after because to the collectors they will become hard to get. But I think why Disneyland doesn't let some characters sign autographs is because Disneyland uses these characters for photos with people and that's what I think they are trying to do. But I can't figure out why some characters are seen for a limited time only and that makes the autographs of those characters hard to find. Take for example when Hawkeye premiered on Disney+ in 2021 Disneyland brought the Hawkeye character back for the Hawkeye holiday show but he didn't sign autographs or do meet and greets and once Hawkeye finished Hawkeye was never brought back as a meet and greet character to Avengers Campus but only was seen during RunDisney events and Hawkeye's autograph is considered rare today. When Moon Knight premiered Disneyland gave the same treatment to Moon Knight and when people learned that Moon Knight didn't sign people were disappointed and out of all the characters that Disneyland has I think the Marvel characters are the ones that are mostly used for photos and do not get to sign autographs "with Spider-Man Doctor Strange Captain America Black Panther Captain Marvel Star Lord Gamora Loki and Ant-Man who do sign autographs". But I think when it comes to events like Pixar Fest what Disneyland should do is hand out lists to people of characters who sign autographs and at the characters who cannot sign autographs would have a sign saying this "THIS CHARACTER IS FOR PHOTOS ONLY AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE AUTOGRAPHS" "FOR MORE INFO PLEASE SEE CAST MEMBER FOR DETAILS THANK YOU" and that would help collectors of Disney character autographs a lot

I also think that there is a huge market for rare autographs of Disney characters not often seen at Disneyland and just like people go crazy wanting celebrity autographs or autographs of sports stars no longer living and it's the exact same thing with rare character autographs that people who go to Disneyland try to get the certain character's autograph because they hope it will go up in value like autographs of celebrities and sports stars who are no longer living. Take for example when Disney/Pixar released A Bug's Life in 1998 Flik Princess Atta and Francis the ladybug's autographs were highly sought after and many people couldn't get the autographs of Flik Princess Atta and Francis the ladybug because of long lines and when Flik no longer appeared at DCA his autograph became rare. Another character that also rare to get an autograph from is The Queen Of Hearts from Alice In Wonderland because you can never find her and the only characters from Alice In Wonderland that are seen today are Alice and The Mad Hatter but if you want an autograph from The Queen Of Hearts today it will be scarce at Disneyland and the other rare character to find anywhere in Disneyland is Mister Smee from Peter Pan and if you got Mister Smee's autograph it is rare today because it is shocking that the only three characters from Peter Pan that are seen in Disneyland today are Peter Pan Wendy and Tinker Bell. But a word of advice that people who go to Disneyland that is usually forgotten and are seeking rare character autographs is to ask the character hosts what characters will sign autographs and which characters are only for photos so they will get the general picture when they go. Because I think when they brought back the full meet and greets to Disneyland in 2022 after the pandemic I think this was the beginning of a new image for people who do meet and greets with characters and I think this photo-only style of meet and greets started with the Marvel characters and I personally think Disneyland will soon develop virtual character autograph books that can be downloaded to a smartphone or tablet and in a Pokemon Go like fashion there would be picture spots at the character meet and greet areas where people can aim their tablet at a character's picture and then an autograph would instantly appear in the virtual autograph book while kids can still get pictures and interactions with the characters. And this idea would be marvelous for Disneyland to do and if it was successful Walt Disney World would most likely follow suit next

Confirmed that the Pixar Fest characters do NOT sign, Mei-Lin and Ming DO sign and Nick Wilde does NOT sign.

What I think Disneyland and Walt Disney World should consider as an idea that would work wonderfully is to design the character costumes to have arm grips like athletes use when working out with weights and these arm grips would help the characters sign autographs and hold the pen in place easily. Because as I mentioned I think that before Disneyland brought back full meet and greets after the pandemic I think they were gonna experiment with a new style of character meet and greet and testing to see if this idea worked. But when people began noticing that some characters didn't sign autographs they were surprised that Disneyland would do this. Because people love character autographs as much as character photos I think some people dislike this thing with characters that don't sign autographs and I think it's a new rule that Disneyland as well as Walt Disney World started beginning to use so that the characters have more time with photos and giving hugs and interacting with people. And if you go to Disneyland today I bet you will find families with kids having conversations like this:
Child: Mom Mom look there's Moon Knight can I get his autograph please?,
Mother: I don't think so Jake but you can talk to Moon Knight and get a picture with him and be sure to give him a big hug,
Father: What is this now the characters cannot sign autographs now? I'm ready to leave and get our money back,
If you have seen families have conversations like this one with their kids about characters not signing autographs at Disneyland I can bet families are shocked at this new image of Disneyland character meet and greets and autographs. And I have a feeling that Disneyland will no longer sell autograph books and switch to virtual autograph books in an app that you can download to your smartphone or tablet in the future
