Autographs books for adults?

Hello - This Sept will be my 6th trip to Disneyworld and my friends and I love taking photos with the characters. I was thinking this time of maybe getting an autograph book - is it unusual to see a group of adults only with authograph books?

Not in the least. I'm a solo traveler mostly and have them. And when I travel with my friends they have them too.

no its not unusual and in my opinion it was a great icebreaker when i went for my first solo trip in mid april.
i wanted to meet a number of characters that i usually don't meet when i go with the whole family and i wanted a conversation starter because any other time i've met a face character as an adult it lasted 5 seconds because they would just say hi and take a pic and then i'd be done.
with the autograph book they would ask me a question about my outfit or about my day so far while they were signing and then we'd have a short conversation before the pic.
i think the autograph also makes it clear that you are really looking for an interaction and not just a pic.

For my last two trips, I have taken a sign that says "Feel Better Soon". I took pictures with the characters holding the sign, asked them to sign the autograph books, and then donated them to Children's hospitals. I have had so great character interactions while doing this and great feedback from the hospitals saying the kids loved see the get well message from their Disney friends.

I am planning to make a photo book this year of past pictures of me and the characters and get them to sign on their page when I meet them again this year! It is just DH and me and I won't feel weird at all about having an autograph book!

Not weird at all! However, a nice alternate for this for adults is to get the t shirt you are wearing signed. Makes a nice souvenir!

I don't quite understand why people think characters are only for kids. If I see Piglet, I go crazy. If Eeyore is out, I point my husband out to him. And Grumpy, well, Grumpy "smiles" at my husband because he's always wearing a Grumpy shirt because it fits him to a "T"!

Therein lies the fundamental disconnect between two broad groups of people on these boards. Speaking only for myself, I don't understand why you don't understand why people think characters are for children. They add to the atmosphere, like bunting, but hoping to "interact" with them seems to me like something only children would do.

However, I'm glad I'm wrong about that -- not because I have any desire to get autographs from characters, but because every person waiting in line for a character is a person who is out of my way while I am enjoying the parks.

I had good Time with Rapunzel, she was very fun!

Of course... I'm 42 lol!

You just have a little funny phrase to say and it Will Be your favorite moment at Disney! My sister was to shy, she lost opportunities to interact with character. And we speak english very bad (we speak french)

I think it's really nice to see adults who are excited to meet characters. I'm 22 and I had one those jeweled- design princess autograph books. No shame at all! haha:D

I had seen a post (and I should have saved it) about an adult who had the characters sign a picture frame mat and then use that with their vacation pictures. It was more useful than an autograph book that might get stuffed in a drawer. Has anyone done this? I'm wondering if just a sharpie pen and a photo mat from the Dollar Store would work.

I am wondering how you keep the picture mat wrinkle-free and dry for the duration. If you have a solution for that, I love the idea.

I see piglet I think bacon. Mmmmm bacon. Now Merida. I see Merida I see my hair in the seventies. Oh God I'm old.

I do believe official policy is that characters aren't supposed to sign any clothing that is being worn. You can definitely bring a shirt and stretch it out on a clipboard or embroidery hoop, but they usually won't sign a shirt on your body.

I'm not really sure. I always carry a bag with me, so depending on the size of the picture mat, maybe a large freezer bag would keep it safe. If it was an 8x10 mat, I could use a big JCP or Kohl's bag. We're not going to WDW until November, 2016, so I've got plenty of time to come up with some ideas. Things to ponder over the next 18 months! :rolleyes1

Any picture mat you like will work - 8x10 is a manageable size. Sharpies work perfect, if you like variety, bring a colorful multi-pack. I love the clickable kind because there's no lid to lose.

Putting it with another sturdy piece of cardboard or a clipboard will keep it flat, and storing the whole deal in a gallon ziplock (or 2 gallon if a larger mat) will keep you dry in rain or water rides.

Two pieces of cardboard cut to the size you need. Two pieces of poster board cut to the size you need. Layer cardboard, poster board, your mat, poster board, cardboard so it's a "sandwich". Place in large zipper bag, punch holes in the corners of the bag (above the zipper), then tie a string around so you can just carry the bag on your shoulder.

It is not at all unusual for adults to have autograph books. Though I don't have a regular book, I have a SWW2015 one since it is a special event. The characters are forced to interact a little longer when you have something to sign so that can always be a plus.

I am going through and having characters sign a photo mat for each park. This one I did in one day at MK and the characters loved it. I have a ton of photos of them posing, and several gave me suggestions of what to frame (most of the princesses suggested I put n a photo of their prince)

To keep it safe I just asked for a bag from one of the stores.
