My DS, 5, is now starting to realize what getting character autographs is all about.......... I held off as long as I could LOL!

I promised him that on our upcoming trip we'd do as many autographs as we could!

Does anyone have any ideas on any "different" takes on what to do for these, instead of the typical autograph books...not that there's anything wrong with that ;)

No creative juices flowing here right now.... thought I'd see what ya'll had done in the past. Loved "Ben's Autograph Site!"

My sister made my kids "personalized" autograph books on her computer. I'm not sure how she did it, but each page inside the book had a color picture of a Disney character, so each character had their own special page to sign. Some of the characters got a real kick out of seeing their picture in the book. Jessie was pointing at Woody's picture and laughing at him. The kids loved it.

Yeaa! I asume that was our site you referred to! :cloud9: Ben did not get into autographs until his second trip, when he was seven years old. Now it's all we want to do! Heck with the rides, Ben says! :)

We just use the blue autograph books. We aren't super creative either, but we do put little pictures of each character on a page, so we know who already signed and who we need to find! :teeth: We have six autograph books that we carry around, since you never know who you will meet!

Happy character hunting!!! Tell us who you find! :) :)

We've used a 3 ring binder before that you can then use for school or as a photo album. I've known people who have used hats, shirts and pillowcases. I'm thinking about using a photo mat (I think that's what it's called) for our next trip and then we can put it around a picture in a cute frame.

I find and save clip art of all the characters that are out and about that we might meet. I use the Character Spreadsheet provided by The Rusty Scupper as my checklist. THen I print each picture on a 4x6 index card. I bought a small three ring 4x6 photo album with the little sleeves which had a picture of Mickey (I also picked up several others with various groups of the Fab 5). I slide each card in alphabetically so that whenever we see a character, I can flip to it, pull it out, and they use the book as the hard surface on which to sign the card. Try finding really funny poses of the characters for the best response. Captain Hook had a fit when the kids gave him his picture of him balancing on the Tick Tock Croc's mouth. Mr. Smee had to cover the picture before he would sign it. The more rare or lesser known the character, the more excited they get. It is a lot of fun. Then I pull out the signed picture and put it in the scrapbook next to the photo when we get home.

Here are two ideas...

1) Last year we brought down my sons Buzz varsity jacket that no longer fit and had the characters sign the sleeves with a sharpie, when we got home had it matted in a shadow box frame-looks really cool. We have also done this with a t-shirt and a disney hat this past December.

2) The free lithos that come with pre-ordered DVD'd and also the ones they sell at WDW (about $15.00) make great keepsakes. Each trip I bring or purchase a few, have the characters sign/stamp them and then frame them in black frames- I have them hanging in my office as a border.

Hope that helps...

Have a magical day,
Paul

We went last spring break and took plain khaki baseball hats (you can get them at Walmart cheap) and decorated them with puffy fabric paints before we left. Put things like "WDW 2004", and child's name, along with a few decorative Mickey heads in vibrant Disney type colors. The kids wore them into the parks every day and I took in a few different colored sharpies. When we would see a character, we would pull out a marker and have them sign the hat. They look GREAT and the kids have been wearing them all year long. We get alot of comments on them. Alot better than the autograph books that are in their closets from years ago just collecting dust. Also got some really cute pics of Goofy signing the kids heads.
