Autograph questions

I've looked and couldn't find the answer in the disneyland section (only Disney world). I have a a few questions about autograpshps.

1. Pens? I heard the characters don't like sharpies because it can get on them. Is this true? If so what is the best pen?

2. Is there a comprehensive list of all the characters who are avaiable for photos and autographs?

3. Do they prefer specific pages for characters or just blank general ones?

I'm crafty and plan on making our autograph books, but wasn't sure about specifics. I plan on putting a plaque in the front telling the signer that our children Have autism, so to not freak our kids out with touching and hugs. I heard Disney is great at dealing with kids with disabilities. This is our first time and I'm very nervous at how our kids will act (they are 3 and 5). We took them to the aluni here in Hawaii and our son hid under the table, and so did our daughter, but came out only for Minnie.

Also, do they mind if adults ask? Our kids really wanted their photos and autographs at aluni, but where to frightened. So as soon as the characters walked away a 45 minute breakdown insued. Just trying to perpare everyone.

As far as pens go, I know they prefer large pens since they are easier to handle.

As a kid I have had characters both sign blank pages and ones with drawing that I've done of them, I don't think they have a preference.

We have used the Disney autograph books, Disney "themed" but not character specific, I'm sure they won't care about that either way. I know they don't care if adults ask for the autograph because when we first went DD12 was 6 and very nervous and shy. So, I ended up asking for autographs because she would not talk to the majority of the characters, the exception being face characters (Princesses, Mary Poppins, etc), she had no issues with them but she didn't like the costumed characters that much. We always had Sharpies and no one ever said anything, they are bigger so easier for the characters to hold, we did have normal pens for face characters but the handlers only said good things about them. As for disabilities, we saw many kids with disabilities, including those who didn't want to touch the characters, the parents either mentioned this to the characters or to the handlers who then passed it on to the characters and it was never an issue. The characters are well trained to avoid possible issues so you should be just fine.

I "made" my own autographs from files provided here on the creative DISigns board and they got a great response from the characters! I had pages for the characters I thought we would see and blank/generic pages for extras. I printed them and had them spiral bound at Staples. Chip was especially please that he had his own page and did not share with Dale. I organized my book by where I would see the character. So, the fairies were together, critter country section, etc. I think your plaque idea is good, but ideally you would already have the book open for the character, so they would not see it. We used clickable sharpies.

Lastly, I went on a trip with some girlfriends a few years ago and we got tons of autographs. Adults should not feel nervous or funny at all about asking for autographs.
