Autograph books???

Help?? WHat type of autograph books do you use and what type of pen works best, I imagine it must be pretty hard for some of the characters to hold the pens???

I just bought my kids autograph books from one of the stores in disney. I also bought them pens from there 2. The autograph books lasted about 3 trips. If you need anymore advice just e-mail me at disney52676@yahoo.com or post a reply on thes page.

Make sure the pens are thicker than you usually use. It is easier for the characters to hold.

Also, you might not want to put the cap of the pen on the back of the pen, especially if it has a string attached.

Buy BIG FAT pens--they work best for the characters. I bought my autograph books before we left, but they are EVERYWHERE at Disney once you arrive. We saw them at World of Disney in DTD, the Emporium and even one of the Disney Outlets.

How much are the autograph books at Disney. I bought some books at the dollar store but not sure if they will be big enough. I guess I could bring them with us and compare them to the ones in the stores there.

I heard big fat crayons work great. I personally am having a gift basket from the Disney florist deliver a bag of snacks and goodies w/ 3 books and 3 pens for the kids the day we arrive at the Poly. We are going two days before Valentine's so I thought it would be fun. I figured having the books ahead of time would make it easier to get going once we get in the parks w/out having to stop to buy them (I like to avoid too much souvienier shopping in the parks, until we go to DTD). The florist had them for $5.50 each which seems to be the going rate. They did not jack up the price which was nice.
We have perfectly good books from our trip 3 yrs ago w/ lots of space, but I will just get the new ones in the gift bag, since the kids will probably see some of the same characters so they can't "compare" signatures from 3 yrs ago while we are at the park. (I have a 9 yr old boy who loves pointing out stuff to his little 5 yr old brother and 2 yr old sister!)

I still might bring the big crayons, they show up so nice in the book and you can give each kid their "own" color so at first viewing you know which book belongs to which kid!!! No caps and the characters have no problems holding them.

We just returned from WDW in early December. I brought along the Big Fat Pen that I had bought for my daughter on our trip in 2003. It seemed that most characters this year had their own pens. After a few autographs we just put ours away and it was never an issue. Hope this helps.

Get a big fat one for the gloved characters and keep a thinner one for the others. (ariel, all princes and princesses, etc...) And I believe the books cost around $15. Imay be wrong about that. My first trip to WDW is still upcoming. But that seems to be what I have seen them for.

We used 4X6 photo albums, and fat Sharpie markers. THe markers would write on the plastic. When we got home, I developed the pictures, and put them in the book, with the autograph. It turned out very cute.

We just returned from DCL and WDW. I bought the kids a 5 X 7 album from Creative memories and we decorated the pages with the "Disney Snap Pack" before we left home. The character would sign on one side and the picture goes on the other. It turned out great. Now they have photo and signature together.

On our last two trips I bought autograph books at WDW and they worked fine as well. I just preferred the picture idea. The kids didn't really have a preference. However, they did like to decorate the pages and they have actually enjoyed paging through the book as a memory of their trip (where before the plain autograph book was forgotten in a drawer).

Thanks for 2 awesome ideas. My daughter has decided she wants autograph's for this trip and my husband was saying the other day it was silly that Disney didn't make an autograph book with pictures or spaces for pictures! What fabulous ideas -- thanks for sharing!

FYI re: crayons - the green ones are hard to wash out of the white gloves some of the characters wear. So don't use green!

I went to the book store...think it was Walden's. I bought blank unlined journals. I like that they were hard back book. We used ribbon (lime green of course) to tie ink pens to the book. We bought some disney iron on characters at Wal~Mart and wa-la! Our own custome made books. We had bought the fat pens at WDW, but had LOTS of trouble with them not working for very long. They were very nice about replacing them as needed. Just take them into any store and trade them. When we returned home I took time to print the character name and the month/year of the trip. I had trouble with a couple of the names but by scanning the page and posting here we got them all figured out.

I do not use autograph books at all. Last year, my DD and DS collected autographs on their hats. And since they only have a small pin collection, the pins are on their hats also.

We make our own autograph books with either construction paper or card stock. And big fat pens. The bigger width wise the better.

I plan on using a 4x6 scrapbook that you can get at any scrapbook store or Creative Memories sells them. That way I can have them sign one side and on the other i can put the picture of them and the kids. The kids can also design the book however they want.

This year I purchased a photo album (the kind w/o the plastic covering the pictures) for each child. I got them at Office Max for $5 each. They were made by Kodak. Each child had a different color so it was easy to tell which one belong to which child right off the bat.

I then printed Disney clip-art onto address lables and put them in the kids books. I would put the sticker in a corner of the page and then the character would sign below.

This helped the kids find the page for the character to sign. We knew if the book was right-side up, which was a problem on our 1st trip LOL!

The characters LOVED this! They made such a big deal out of their picture being there.

Captain Hook and Mr. Smee went crazy when they saw Peter Pans picture! Captain Hook was holding his fist in the air like he was so angry! A CM had to come over to calm him down. The kids loved it!

It was a lot of work for me, making 4 books, but I am going to do it every year they want to do autographs.

We printed our pictures out that we took and put them in the album along with some writing about what they remembered about that day. They will be great memories for years to come.

Are the tips on the pens wide too, or just the pens themselves? Does anyone have a picture of one they could post or tell me where I could get one from home? I have pens that are tri-color and you push the button down for the color you want, but they are not markers - are markers better?

I plan on making our autograph books so that we can put a picture on one side and the autograph on the other side.
