I was planning on buying one of the Disney autograph books for our trip, but I have read some posts about people making their own so that the character pictures can be shown beside their autograph and thought that would be a lot better than just a book with signatures. Can everyone post their ideas for a "do it yourself" autograph book? Please keep in mind that I am craft challenged:rolleyes: Thanks!

I was just thinking of that the other day - posting to see where people bought their autograph albums, onsite or before they left home. Making one sounds even better - maybe get the kids involved too.
I'm looking forward to hearing all the great ideas on how to make one...::MinnieMo

I found this site last year. It gives instructions on how to make autograph books. Making Autograph Books

I tried for a long time to find autograph albums to buy....I must have looked in 20+ stores. I finally did find some but they weren't the best quality. I wished I'd made my own. On the "craft board" there are lots of other great ideas.

The one thing I did do was I found a spiral note pad (without any lines in it) that was make of the black paper used for "gel" pens and I bought metallic Sharpies- gold ,silver and blue( I think) for signing with. They were a great hit with my kids but especially with the Princess Characters. princess:

Here's what I did. I went to Michaels and looked through their scrapbook section. I found a spiral bound scrapbook. It's about 5 x7, but they came in smaller sizes and an assortment of colors. The paper is as thick as card stock and is very stirdy. Since it's spiral bound, it's easy to flip through the book. What I did was decorate the pages with stickers and/or scrapbook paper before we arrived. There was a page for mickey, page for Buzz and Woody, etc. I put them in alphabetical order to make it easier to find at autograph time. The page across from the autograph is perfect for pictures!
I can tell you that the characters LOVED seeing their page! The face characters (Snow White, etc) made a big fuss and the kids just loved that!
I'd post pictures of my DS's autograph book if I new how to post the pictures here.:(

Here's what we're going to do. I've made projects like this in the past. I took my picture maker program and made sheets 4 1/2 x 5 inches. I personalized the covers with kids names, dates of trip, favorite characters etc. When it gets close to trip time, i am going to print them out on card stock and use a paer cuter to cut them. I am going to bring them to office depot and get them bound with a front and back cover on them.

Hope this helps!

I just posted about my cheap-o autograph book above!

I'm a scrapbooker, and I took my leftover scraps and cut them into 4x6 pieces, all different colors, and put them in a 4x6 photo album. That way the character can use the album to press on as well.

I plan to use ours in my scrapbook with our trip pictures. If you aren't a scrapbooker, you can find a pack of 20 sheets of colored paper at Walmart in the crafts section for about $2.50, then just cut that.

Have fun!
