autograph books and gift cards

Are there places in the park to buy these items or am I better to order them now.

There are plenty of places that sell both in the parks.

Yep, plenty of places to buy both. I bought my autograph book ahead of time though, I used http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Junior...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1301096705&sr=8-1-spell and it was a big hit with my kiddos.

Buy autograph books as soon as you get there. If you stay onsite, get one in the resort gift shop. There are two kinds. One for just autographs, and one for autographs and pictures.

We bought ours through Disney Vacation Planning and they had it delivered into our room along with a pair of ears or our son so it was an extra special surprise for him when we checked in after spending our first day at DL.

Since we're on the subject of autograph books...
I remember reading about the size of pens that are preferred by characters, but I can't recall what was considered better. Does anybody know if the characters prefer "jumbo" pens over regular pens?

I normally use a regular pen, and every character has seemed to be able to handle it, no matter if they have hands, paws, etc. Bigger pens are probably easier for them, although Pinocchio was able to use crayons (he was drawing us pictures at the Character Fan Days). Sharpies tend to bleed onto the next page, so I would watch out for that if you're going to use them.

Another thing I do is write what day I saw the character, where I saw them, and what fun interaction/s we had - makes for a great memory. For example, on the page next to Peter's name is the story he told me of him and Wendy playing pirates on the island. Peter was the pirate and tied her up as his captive. Where is she now? Oops, she's still there! I better go untie her for the parade! He then proceeded to run off, to go rescue poor Wendy.

I ordered my simple one from the Disney store when they had free shipping. They (I needed 4) were only $7.00, which is cheaper than the prices I'd seen. Also, I've added stickers of the various characters to the pages and the kids are excited about who we might meet.
