Hi, we are currently planning our first trip to WDW. I would like to
make an autograph book for my children. I am in need of
some ideas. Open to all suggestions.

so you could copy some and print them out and maybe put them in a small (diary size) 3-ring binder with blank pages opposite for signatures of the character pictured. The sites I have found terrific pictures are: disneyclipart.com and toonfinder.com.

The last time we went to Disney my boys collected autographs in the autograph book you can buy there. Then when we returned home and I had the photos developed of my kids with the characters who had signed the books, I put the photos and autographs in each child's scrapbook. I am an avid scrapbooker and my dh was shocked to find out that I had cut out the autographs, but I cut them out with different edged scissors and matted them with colors appropriate to the colors of the characters and then put them in a 4 page spread in their scrapbooks. They turned out fantastic and the kids love them. They would not be as likely to just look at their autograph books.

This time I am planning a suggested idea (thanks to allears newsletter) and I purchased a Bedtime Story book for each of my children that has 13 stories covering all the big characters and I intend to have the characters sign by 'his' (or her) story. My hope is that this can become a treasured bedtime story that my boys will be able to read to their children later in life and fondly remember our trip. Corny I know, but even my 12 y o said "good thinking mom".

ddisney--Did you know that you can purchase autograph books or are you specifically looking to make one for your children? We have always purchased them in WDW--even for oldest DD's 1st trip when she was 3 months-they are so worth it!! They have characters on the front and can pretty much be purchased anywhere in WDW..I would also suggest, since it is your first time, ordering Guest of Honor badges. They are badges that you can have your children's names (and yours) printed on so that all the characters know the kids names and use them when they sign their autograph books--DD loved this since alot of the characters called her by name. I am not sure where the GoH badges can be purchased beforehand (MOM bought them for us), but I am sure someone here on the DIS could answer that question. If you are looking to make books instead of buying them, you could always find a small notebook for them and make (or have your children decorate) covers for them!!! Hope this helps and have a wonderful first trip!

Thank you for the ideas. No, I didnt know you could buy the autograph
books at Disney. Maybe I will just do that this trip, and do something like
Carla suggested with a scrapbook when we get home. Thanks for the tip on the Honor
Badages. Thanks again.:)

I just found the honor badges at Gifts of a Lifetime, I think they are 7.50 and they can be delivered to your hotel---they also offer first-timer packages (55.00 each) with the Mickey ears, autograph books, pens, etc--pretty much everything you would need! Good luck!!!!!!

Another tip, especially if you intend on putting them in your scrapbook: cut the photo-safe paper to just bigger than your normal photo print size. You can bind these together just by punching holes and stringing together. Then, have the character sign these colored squares of photo safe paper. Once you get home and have your pic's developed, you can separate the signatures and put them right into the scrapbook with the corresponding pic's. And the signatures are on paper that won't discolor your photos years from now. Make sure you take a scrapbooking pen too!

How do you get to "Gifts of a Lifetime"? The first timer pkg. sounds
great. Thanks for all your help everyone. This is going to be a
wonderful trip.:)

ddisney- You can go directly to the gifts of a lifetime website (I have listed it below)-the First Timers package includes all of the following: Epcot Passport, 2001 Pin Lanyard, Autograph Book, Pen, Mickey Ears (can be personalized for free in WDW or for a small fee through Gifts of a Lifetime), Pressed Penny, Guest of Honor Badge, and a special surprise. They are $55.00 each but can be delivered to your hotel upon ordering!
