I am getting ready to put my autograph books together and need some advice. My plan is to use the stax textured papers for the actual autographs and the printed papers for the background for the pics I will take.

I also plan on using clip art and embellishments to decorate the pages.

My question is...do I take the blank textured pages and get them signed first, then come home and do the clip art, embellishments, etc and then get it bound? Or do I make the complete book therefore only needing autographs and pics?

On the one hand, the books would be unique and get a lot of attention if I had them all prepared beforehand. Also, I worry that once a huge autograph goes on the page, any clip art would have to go on top of the signature.

On the other hand, they would be easier to deal with if I did not have to search through the book for the character page each time we saw a character.

And on the other hand :dance3: (yes, that makes three), I could compromise and take the solid pages with the clip art only and if I have to so some flipping, but so be it. Then I could decorate it when we get home.

Who can advise me? HELP!!

You're gonna hate me for saying this... but you have to do whichever will work best for YOU!

We leave for Disney in about 2 weeks and I plan on altering a clipboard and having white cards for the chars to sign. I plan to write in pencil where and when on the back of each card, just in case I want to know later on. I probably should hurry and buy that clipboard eh? ;) :lmao:

Fran, I'm on the way out of town..so what time should I be expecting you to pick me up??? I can meet you at the airport (15 minute drive) or I can meet you at 465 you pick the exit!!! :)

Have a great time!!! :)

This is gonna sound really dumb, but is the clipboard so that the characters have something hard to sign on? Until this post, it had never occurred to me that they will need a hard surface!! :confused3

Okay, so add that to my list of things to buy for the trip! ;)

the clipboards are for a hard surface for the characters.

Ask your self some questions.
-Do you want to lug the completed book around all week?
-How upset would you be if a completed book "walked away" or are you planning on it never leaving your sight.
-do you want the character interaction.

Simple solution to the hunting of pages, either group them together by alphabetical order or by movie/show etc.

Personally I did tags.
example: Pooh and friends meet and greet in AK. 3 characters in a row right?! While standing in line I got the first tag ready, Pooh signs. While DH is taking pics I step off take Poohs autograph and slip it to the back of the stack (I had about 10 cards in each clipboard) bam, Eeyore up next, same thing. Tigger bam ready, I also had the different colored clicker sharpies for each. Pooh was red, eeyore grey, tigger orange. I took a small waterproof bag that the clipboards, pens, and tags when in. When we stopped for lunch, stood in line, etc I would refill the clipboards and take the used tags and put them in a small ziploc bag for safe keeping. That way we didn't write on the back sides by accident. At night I took them out and stashed them in my memorabilia bag in the room.

Wonderful food for thought.

Yes, I would be devastated to lose the books. Great idea about grouping alphabetically. Also to put away the signed ones at night so they don't get lost, damaged or written on the back.

Thank you so much! I am so glad that I found these boards. Everyone is so nice even when they have probably answered the same questions a hundred times.

I am throwing pixie dust your way!!!:tinker:

we did the clipboard thing too and it worked out great. like bamb said when you are standing in line you can be getting it ready. we did colored tags and a black sharpie.so our tags matched our character. it was alot of fun to pick out the color of who we were waiting for. and the characters loved it too. watch out for pluto, he cant see very well and in fact he ended up signing the board and not the tag. then when goofy saw that, of course he had to sign the board too! it was alot of great memories for my son. he was totally into it. now i want to take the tags and do a page with the autograph and the pic of my son with the character. that should just take me forever!!!!!!

it's way better than the autograph book that sits on the shelf!

We have 2 of those blue autographs on the shelf and I'm so tempted to rip them apart to scrap!

Nancy, we're driving, so sit on the highway on the 20th, leaving 6am... look for the gray Montana. :)
