Autograph book questions!

here is our dilemma...

we are starting our trip out with a visit to Chef Mickey's

We want to have autograph books for the kids before the meal, but I don't know how to best go about getting them.

How early are the resort gift shops open...and do they sell autograph books?

We will be pre-checking in around 7am before heading over to Chef Mickey's.

I don't suppose the Disney Store carries any sort of autograph books, do they?

My daughter had an autograph book the first time she went and she kept forgetting to get it signed. She only got one or two signatures. The last time, however, we found a tip to use index cards. She stuck them in her fanny pack and could whip one out whenever she met anyone. Then, when I created our scrapbook, I put the signature card right next to the pictures of the character she met! I like that better and will probably do it again next time, even though she'll be 12 and be "above" wanting to meet the characters.

There is a gift shop in the Contemporary that sells the autograph books. I do not know what time they open though. You could call the resort and ask. Sorry I can't be more help. Have a great time

Are you crafty at all? I picked up a 6 x 6 "memory book" kit and some Disney scrapbooking papers & stickers and made DD a custom memory book for her birthday trip. When the book is open, the left pages are for autographs and the right pages will stay blank for pictures to accompany each signature. This way, the whole book is thick, high quality, acid free paper, and we can make it into a scrapbook of the trip when we get home.

The store in the Contemporary that would sell the autograph books is called Bay View Gifts (B.V.G.) and they open everyday at 8:30 AM.

Does anyone know the price of this book, or something similar maybe to purchase? Never been to disney, not sure what kind of book to even get

I would call your resort and ask if you could pre-pay for them and have them in your room or at guest check-in! I am sure they will do something like that1 We ordered "Welcome Back" gift baskets with all of those goodies in there to get us started!!!!

If you want another autograph idea, I read on another thread that someone took a pillowcase and had fabric markers and had the characters sign the pillowcase. That way the kids could actually see autographs and have a great reminder of their trip instead of the book ending up in a draw where sometimes it is forgotten.

On past trips we've had a lot of fun with autograph books, but for our next trip I've already purchased a couple of these Disney logo shirts (in white) for my kids:

We'll also take fabric markers (in a variety of colors), and I'll carry a sturdy piece of cardboard to put inside the shirt and make a hard surface for signing. (I always carry a backpack in the park, so that's really not going to be a problem for me to carry around.) My kids are really looking forward to having autograph t-shirts as souvenirs of this trip.
