Autograph Book Ideas

Okay, so today I bought a small scrapbook, about 4" x 4", with foam covers on it, to make an autograph book.

So, I was going to put the characters pictures on the pages, so that they could sign by their picture, but other than your basic ones, where would I get pictures of these guys? I've got stickers of the common characters, but not everyone.

And, oh my, what if I forget someone and don't put them in the book and then they can't find their picture to sign by? :scared1: I don't want to offend anyone! :rotfl:

So, does anyone have any ideas on where to get pictures? And, is there somewhere I can get a list of characters?

Who should I include, and who should I not include?

Or, maybe I should just decorate the covers and wait until after the trip, when I know who we got signatures from and then add the pictures?

So many options, LOL....

I am NOT crafty by nature, so I'll let someone else handle that end.

But I wouldn't worry about offending a Disney character... I can't imagine the person behind the mask really being offended by that. Besides, how would they know what was on the other pages of your book??

That sounds like a fun idea. Maybe one of the below would be the same n the end and be a little more flexible:

1 - I heard they sell autographs books in WDS where you sign one side and you can put a picture in the other.

2 - My DDs are using the countdown chain from Mourseforless.com. There are loads of characters on there.

I agree with the previous poster, the characters will not know what is on the other pages so they will not be offended. Also, it may be time consuming to look through your book for the correct character at the spur of the moment.

Have fun!

I made autograph books too for my 2 little ones last trip and had pages for most of the characters, though definately not all. You can use Google Images and do a search for photos of the characters you want. Select a picture you like, print, and paste it in the book! I've been using this lately with my scrapbooking when I don't have a sticker or die-cut of what I want. Good luck! P.S. Though characters definately don't get offended when they don't have a page, they get VERY excited when they do! You should have seen how elated Aladdin was that he had his very own page next to Jasmine! And the Mad Hatter made a big deal out of having his own page too!

We found a Disney Scrapbook that had Micky & Minnie on the cover. It had maybe 30 blank pages in it (cheap-0 scrapbook, not Creative Memories or anything). The pages were roughly 8 1/2 x 11. We had the characters sign the book along the edges somewhere (bottom, top, side, etc...) and then we took pictures of the kids with the characters. We then added the pictures to the page. The kids really like it as they can tie the signatures directly to the characters they saw and helps them remember the trip.

They kids had large notecards (4 x6 blank) that they took inside the park that were signed by the characters. We kept them in plastic sealed bags with retractable Sharpie pens. The kids would just give the card or stack of cards to the characters. The characters and handlers loved the retractable Sharpies - No caps to mess with! :thumbsup2

Then upon our return to the hotel, they could sort their cards into their albums that I had created. I used a small photo album 6 X6 where you slip the page inside plastic sleeves. After we returned home, we printed out the pictures of the characters with the kids and added them to the albums. The pages were then complete with the decorations (can be done before or after trip), the picture with the character and the character's signature ALL on the same page. :cool1:

The kids really like to look back at their albums and see their picture with the character along with the character's signature.

Before you hunt all over town, check out the Creative DISigns thread here under Just for Fun. I actually made my autograph books from this thread and I have a separate page for all the characters! Also, if you forget a character, just make sure you have some blank pages available, they'll never know!

How old are your kids?

I just bought the regular WDW autograph book the first time. DD was 2, so when we got home, I hit Michaels and AC Moore and bought stickers of the characters and put one by each signature so DD would know whose was whose w/o asking me all the time.

Last trip I did the Creative Memories 7x7 Disney album as an autograph book. Great and made beautiful books, except the 7x7 was a little big and I would prefer to have the picture and signature on the same page to make room for more.

This trip, I am going to punch/cut card stock and put it in a ziplock baggie. I may take my little tiny clipboard too for a stable writing pad and attach the pen to it. Each character will sign a tag so I can fit them into their scrapbooks w/the pictures easily.

Sooo, long story to chime in and say wait until you get home from your trip.

Check out the Creative Community forum on the Dis. There are LOTS of creative people who have made autograph albums.

karajaboo,

are in the inside of your books blank? or did you put pictures on each page?

what type of paper did you use?

I didn't use a book, but made homemade cards (which I still may bind into a book). I printed clipart of the characters onto cardstock, and used a clipboard for the cards. The characters all loved them! Here's a few:

Yours sounds very simular to ones that I've done before and I'm actually working on some more for our next trip. I have spiral bound books I think they are 6x8 but that doesn't really matter. I glue colored paper to each of the pages so that they aren't all just white. Some of them I have stickers for. If you are having a hardtime finding some of the more hard to find characters, the pictures of the pins on ebay might work really well when printed out at home. I wouldn't want to copy those and then sell the autograph book for profit with copyright laws and everything but if they are just for your kids then who will know. With our last books I forgot a bunch of characters but added extra pages in the back just incase. Also, don't forget about all the different mickey's (safari mickey, regular mickey, chef mickey, ect) just incase you want to include each one.

I did something totally different. I found a hardback book at the bookstore that was a Disney character encyclopedia. Each page was about a character and included biographical info about the character as well as photos. We brought several different color retractable sharpies and had the characters sign the book using them. We only found a few characters at the parks who were not in the book and we had them sign on the inside front and back covers which were blank.

This book was great because it was fun for the kids to read and look at later.
