Autograph book & Epcot Passport for 4 yo ???

Hi- Was wondering If I should give my just turned 4 y.o. son an autograph book and Epcot world passport for our upcoming Christmsa trip. Will he understand them? Enjoy having them- or will it be 2 more things for Mommy to carry around with her? Thanks!

I would say definatly do the autograph book. They're a great idea for young children who are apprehensive at meeting the characters. It will give them an excuse to approach them. Not sure about the Passportsa though. I don't think a 4 year oild will get that much out of it. I think it's more for older kids who understand more about the countries, geography, and such.

We took our 4 year old niece several years ago and she loved both the autograph book and the passport. We took her 4 year old brother a couple of years ago and he wasn't interested in either one - but he loved the pressed penny machines.

And you don't have to be the one carrying either (but I'd just get the autograph book). Get your boy a fanny pack to hold the autograph book, Sharpie and other assorted items (things like gum, disposable camera, maybe a room key, etc.). He learns some responsibility and you lighten your load. He'll be very proud of himself (and he's not too young.)

We just went with my 4 year old daughter and I wasn't sure about whether to get an autograph book or not. I decided to play it by ear and she turned out to be very uninterested in having one even though most of the other kids did. She was more interested in getting a hug and a picture with the characters.

DD had an autograph book at 2 1/2 and an autograph book and passport at 4 1/2. She loved doing both, and the mask at epcot too. Even at 2 1/2 she held onto that autograph book, making sure she got every character autograph she could. She actually has one very special (to her)non character autograph too. On our first trip she was 2 1/2. We went to see the animation tour at MGM (the free one). At one point you sit in with a Disney artist and they speak with the group and do a few sketches. As we were leaving she starts crying and tugging at me. I thought she wanted me to carry her (it had been a long day). She finally get it "out" that she wants his autograph. He was thrilled. He was a fairly young man who actually started work at WDW as a custodian in his mid teens. He sketched her a pic of mickey and sign her book for her. The idea caught on and he probably ended up doing 4 or 5 for the group.

Another vote for the autograph book, and against the passport here!

My just turned 5 year old loved having the characters "Sign UP!" This was a big highlight of her trip.

She also LOVED Epcot's World Showcase and the Kidcot stations in each country - in fact - she liked Epcot better than the MK. We did buy passports for all 3 daughters, but they were a waste of money, IMHO. The masks were so much more fun, and free. The CM's would stamp and sign the sticks in each country, as well as add the decoration for each country, and Sarah loved to continue decorating her mask - she thought she had to color more in each country as well! She has 3 of these now in her bedroom - they make an awesome souvenir of her trips! Another one is in the works for November!!

The passports are small - filled with stamp like stickers - no room for creativity, and not appropriate for display.

DD gets autographs in a small scrapbook so I can add pictures after we're home. She did it at 2.5, 3 and will again at 4.5. She really enjoys looking at them (and it's neat to see how she's changed).
I bought a passport at 2.5 and thought of it the other day and pulled it out. We had 3 countries done. I will take it back this time to finish, but while she's making her mask I'll get it signed. I'm positive she will have no interest in it.

My then 3.5 yr old son loved getting the characters autographs in his book. He got so many that we ended up buying another autograph book while we were down there! LOL

We didn't get a passport last time but we are planning on getting him one for our December trip because we will be spending alot of time in Epcot at the WS. He is 4 yrs old now...I think he will get into the passport thing...I hope

Get the autograph book, they will have fun getting them signed. Most of the characters can not speak, so this gives them something to interact with. Write your childs first name very big in front of book. Many characters will check and personalize the autograph. I think letting any special CM sign is nice too, not just the character.

At EPCOT, my children gave the "world ambassadors" their autograph book. They came away with a country stamp, autograph, personal message in a foreign language and a nice conversation with the CM. It was a nice experience for the kids.

Passports got no message or autograph. Save the @$10.

I'm not sure if you are trying to say they don't have a place for one ... Which they do... or if the CM's wouldn't sign them. I guess if it were the latter I would assume it was because they had already done it in the autograph book.

3 years ago we did both passports and autograph books for our just 4 yo and 6 yo. They loved both! The kids still take out their passports periodiacally and look at all the stamps and have taken them to school when studying other countries. At different countries we asked CMs to write their names in the other languages - they're fun to look at.
