Auto Train

We are contemplating taking the auto train from VA to Sanford, FL. Can anyone familiar with the train give me an estimate on how long it takes to unload the car. The arrival into Sanford is 9:30am. It's looks to be an hours drive from there to WDW.

Unloading is purely "luck of the draw". You can never count on any formula, i.e. first on - first off, etc. It can take a half-an-hour up to two hours and both have happened to us. One time we were #8 off; one time we were 3rd from the last! Count on an hour and you shouldn't be disappointed. Think of it as how long it would take you when you de-plane, get to the baggage claim area, then stand and wait for your luggage, get to your transportation (rental car or Magic Express) and be on your way. Well, with the Auto Train, you de-train and as soon as you get your car, you're off!

From Sanford, it is about 40 minutes to WDW. Once out of the station area, it's a straight shot down I-4...very simple. We love the Auto Train and have taken it at least six times. We consider it part of the adventure. Good luck and have fun!
