Auto train--Shower question

We're thinking of taking the auto train for our next trip. We will probably get one of the sleeper compartments so that we'll have access to a shower. DD11 has autism and some medical issues and needs help with showering. Is there a shower that is large enough and has some privacy so that I can help her? We don't need a roll-in shower, as she only uses her special needs stroller for distances and won't be using it on the train.

Are you getting a room that has a private bath? We took the train down a couple if years ago and got the family sleeper plus a roomette and we didn't shower so I can't even remember what the showers look like. But I can't imagine that they would be very large. You can view an outline of the rooms on the Amtrak website so maybe they have an outline of the bathrooms or you could always call and ask. Hope you enjoy your trip, we loved taking the autotrain!

Forget about a shower on the AutoTrain. Even with the private toilet and shower they are combined as an extremely cramped room. There is no way two people can fit in the shower, it is even difficult for one small person.

Thanks for the info. I figured the private shower in some of the sleeping compartments would be too small. I was hoping there was a handicapped accessible shower somewhere, with a little privacy, as I know the accessible sleeping compartment doesn't have any shower. We'll be renting a place off site and I doubt we'll be able to check in early. Oh well, we'll have to deal with being grubby for a day. Thanks again!
