Auto Train Questions

Has anybody taken the autotrain? We are seriously considering this option one way next April ging south from Washington. The price is OK for our date, and we thought this would be a nice break up of the drive since we are going to WDW 3 times within one year. Does anybody know if there is a handicapped accessible bathroom on the train? Or, at least one larger than on an airplane? Also, we would just be booking the regular reserved seats. How far do they recline? How is the food and at what price is the food?

Does anybody know if there is a handicapped accessible bathroom on the train? There is a handicapped accessible bathroomm on the lower level of each car. Or, at least one larger than on an airplane? Also, we would just be booking the regular reserved seats. How far do they recline? They recline further than an airline seat, more like your Laz-y-Boy at home. The seats are more like 1st class seats on an airplane rather than coach seats How is the food and at what price is the food? The food in coach is decent, nothing to write home about, but significantly better than airline food, more like a mid-level chain restaurant for dinner (think Appleby's) and just a standard Continental breakfast, cereal, juice, muffins, fruit. Dinner and breakfast are included in the train fare on the Autotrain.

Thank you for the wonderful link on the Autotrain. We decided this morning to book one way down to florida for our October trip. When DH found out that food was included, and the cost seems to have gone down since I looked lst weekend. I will report after our trip!

If you haven't done so yet request lower level seating for coach. They are usually reserved for handicap passengers. If you are upstairs (extremely narrow staircase) the bathrooms are downstairs.

The car attendant should be able to arrange for your food to be served to you in the lower level seating area. (dining car is 2nd level too).

Enjoy your trip. The attendants are fantastic!

We return in less than 3 wks for our 6th trip on the train!
