What does it mean when only the inside (middle) of your rear tire treads are showing wear (to the point where the wear is almost bald in the middle).

The front tires look pretty good.

Alignment is out or something is bent.
Take it to a reliable alignment shop.
AVOID the chain stores...ie. sears, firestone etc... most of those will try to sell you parts you don't need bacause they get paid commision for what they sell.

Too much air in the tires. Check the air pressure in the tires. Most tires need around 35 psi in the tires.

This makes good sense. The truck is only a year and half old btu I keep the tires @ about 44 PSI (That is what the tire says)

44 psi is the max inflation.
Try dropping it about 7 psi

Over inflated tires!!!

Please do not inflate tires to the numbers on the tire. A tire has a load range (the amount of weight) that it can support and the pressure that is stamped on the tire is the maximum inflation pressure needed to carry the maximum weight the tire can support.

When a tire is bald in the center it indicates too much pressure for too little weight. If your owners manual does not have a pressure chart, you can go online for the tire manufacturer and find a chart for that tire.

Driving a vehicle with tires that are over or under inflated can cause numerous problems. Tire pressure should be checked often, meaning at least once per week.
