Hello,
Please HELP!! I am trying to book the auto train to Disney. I am finding a huge difference between the Amtrack 800# prices and online. I was told I have to book online only to get the rates I found. The problem I'm finding is the site only has enough space to book 5 people. I am travelling with 2 adults and 4 kids. THe prices between Amtrak and online varry by as much as $600. Anyone know how I can get this online price to work? Anyone know of any alternatives to get a good deal. I did hear that there will be a rail sale starting 3/1 but the Auto train is NOT one of the discounted trains. If anyone has any info, please e-mail me. THANKS! Karen

I don't know what is happening with their pricing lately. If you find a good price online, call the 800 # immediately as prices seem to be fluctuating daily. If you have AAA discount that is a good one. Don't do their automated ressies, push 0 to get a customer service agent. They will be able to book things for you. If you talk to a person you have a better chance of asking "why?" if the price isn't the same.

I have been watching the prices online for a while but didn't have the money to book till last week.

Originally I wanted to leave on a Sunday, but Tuesday and Wednesday prices were about $120 cheaper. I kept watching with bated breath for the prices to rise and sure enough they did for Tuesday and Wednesday, but when I put in Sunday, the prices went down to the price that Tuesday and Wednesday had originally been at. I tried to book it online but for some reason it didn't go thru. I called the 800# got the customer service operator and she came up with the same price as the internet site. Tried to book it and the transaction wouldn't go thru on my credit card. She made the ressie and gave me a ressie # and told me it would be held till March 1. Immediately called credit card company and they said that there was a block on my account for large transactions. They cleared that and I called Amtrak back and everything went thru just fine. Should be getting my tickets any day now. Checked my charge online and the transaction is there.

Going August 18-30. Disney World the 25-30.

By the way, I went back into Amtrak today and the price for Sunday has gone back up $120. Whew!!!!!!!
