Autistic children and Value resorts?

from her tag line, it looked like there were four of them....DH, her, and two boys....

Hmmm, not sure where I got the six people from. Sorry for my state of confusion!

Thanks for all of the great advice. Sometimes I feel like just throwing all of the resort names in a basket, then blindly pick one. It all gets to be so confusing. ;) Thanks for the help.

Took us one hour to check in at POR! UGH!
If tv seems to help him tune out the waiting - do you have a portable DVD player?
Also - what if during check in one waited to check in and the other parent could take him on a tour of the grounds? Keep in touch by cell phone or walkie talkie and only head back to lobby (or room when check in is complete)

NIKS MOM--

Are you planning on renting a car? If not...
You may want to consider the difference in travel time and food choices compared to a deluxe (where you have previously stayed). Staying for 8 days at DW at a value resort means alot of time spent on a bus (or waiting for one). The value resorts do have the food courts but you will not want to eat it for 8 days so that means using buses to travel for dining, buses to travel to the parks, back for breaks, again in the afternoon, etc. Do you think your sons will get antsy constantly waiting for buses? My autistic dd(5) does NOT do well waiting and I was afraid she would throw a fit in line--or worse--on the bus and aggravate the other vacationers. We chose to stay at CR for its convenience and are using an AP, DDE card, and Disney Visa reward points to defray costs. If you do decide to go with a resort with only one form of transportation(be it value or mod), you may want to rent a car to make it a more pleasurable trip. :goodvibes
