Autism Awareness at WDW: One Mom's View

Thanks, dreamsofdisney, for spreading the word beyond the DisAbilities forum!!! My 4 year-old with ASD asks just about every 15 seconds if we can go to Disney World (she couldn't even talk a year ago!). When we finally do take her, my husband and I would prefer to spend our energy focusing on her and her sister instead of deflecting rude comments and judgmental stares. It is such an important message that it could probably be posted on every forum on the disboard. Again, thanks so much and I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Thanks for your post. As a Special Ed adminidtrator, I have taught many students with a variety of forms of Autism. I can tell you that I had a student who came back to school and would tell me about his trip to WDW. I used WDW to work on communciation skills.

As a parent of a child who is hard of hearing and wears hearing aides, any little thing that makes life a tad bit easier is great!
