Hi! My youngest child has moderate to severe autism (non verbal, flapping, etc) and will have just turned 4 when we take him to Disney to the first time this November. I am not sure if he will wear his Magic Band--he typically pulls off anything that we put on his wrist or body that he does not like (even bandaids). Is it ok if the rest of the family wears Magic Bands and we use a paper ticket for him or can I wear his band on my other arm? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you for any suggestions!

We were in Disney last month with our 10 year old daughter (who has autism as well as several other challenges). Most of the time I just carried her Magic Band in my purse--only pulling it out when we needed it to enter a park or to use a fastpass. It seemed to work fine that way and I didn't have to worry about her taking it off and loosing it.

My son does not do well with textures on his skin. I just received our magic bands this week and he seemed ok with the feel of the band but I know he will have real issues with it if it gets sweaty under the band. Does anyone know if these bands causing people to sweat is a real issue?

I believe there are cloth covers you can either purchase or make for the Magic Bands. Whether they help with sweating discomfort may depend on the material. You can Google it to find several different options.

Enjoy your vacation!

Yes, there are cloth covers you can either purchase or make. I have seen instructions on line for making them

We have used Magicbands for 2 trips of more that 10 days each trip and no one complained about sweating.
My youngest daughter has a lot of issues, but was willing to wear her Magicband in the parks - once we left, she refused to wear it.
I was prepared to either wear hers or keep it in my purse, but never needed to.

If you are going to try having him wear it, there are instructions in the box for pulling the gray part off, so just the colored part is left. This makes it more comfortable on smaller wrists.
But, be aware that once you make it small, you can't make it larger again, so you might not be able to wear it.

We are going to WDW in the end of August. My daughter, who has DS and ASD is definitely not going to wear a magic band. It was my understanding that the KTW card would also work. I was just planning on putting that in my wallet. Is this not correct?

You can, but you will need to use it twice for every attraction you are using Fastpass Plus at - the Magicband or card will need to be scanned once to enter the line and again before the Fastpass and regular line merge.
So, you will want it somewhere that it will be convenient to get to.

Thanks. I'll just have to see what's easier, the card or wearing a second band, but I least I know there are options

You can wear his band. I wear my band on one arm and DS's band on the other.

My children don't have autism but didn't care much for wearing the band. They put them on their stuffed animals. They got a kick out of holding their stuffed animals up to the scanners. I like to put mine on my lanyard sometimes. :)

This could be a good solution. I think my son might get a kick out of putting the band on a stuffed animal or wearing it on a lanyard. The lanyard is definitely a good fallback option.

My son also wore it on his lanyard. He did not like the feel of the band on his arm.

I'm a 19 year old with autism. I used the magic band for the first time and I was okay with it. You could wear your son's Magic Band.

Enjoy your trip!!
