Autism and Disneyland

Greetings! I will be taking my nonverbal 4 year old son to Disneyland for the first time. Anything I should definitely bring besides snacks, toys, fidgets, headphones, stroller, and tablet? I’m looking for out of the norm suggestions that I would probably not have thought of. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Someone mentioned to consider applying for DAS, which I totally agree. But also, assuming Disneyland does this (WDW does), ask to have the stroller tagged to be used as a wheelchair. My DS with ASD and sensory processing issues relies on his stroller as his safe space. When he's overwhelmed and overstimulated, he sits in his stroller, puts on his headphones, and pulls the sun shade down in front of him to block everything out. If you have it tagged, it can go anywhere a wheelchair can which is very helpful when he gets overwhelmed in lines (even with a DAS, there are still lines).

Yep, same with my DS. Being able to decompress in his stroller helped deescalate several potential meltdowns.

In WDW, we just went to guest services just inside the gate at the very first park we visited. We explained why he needed his stroller. They gave us a tag that was good for our entire trip. Definitely lifesaver.
