Australia

The grass is always greener..... :rotfl: I love Victora Secrets; which currently do not have any ....er....."physical assets"......in Australia. But they are finally going to open a shop in Melbourne.

Will it have the full range? I hate the airport stores that have only underpants, I love their bras.

Thank you everyone I am going to sit down decide how many days we need in each city. .Did anyone know the brand Pleasure State is it a luxury brand in Australia as its expensive here but beautiful lingerie.

Sorry I've never heard of it. I don't generally buy luxury brands because I'm always saving for my next trip :rotfl:

I agree with PIO though, the grass is always greener. I bought a pair of Ariat horse riding/hiking boots from a specialty shop for about $200 before my last trip to the US. One of the ladies on our mule ride at the Grand Canyon had exactly the same pair as me that she had been able to buy from an outlet store for $40 :scared1:

Oh no that's not fair hope you stock up when you visit .I hate when that happens.:wave2:

looked at the Docklands apartments they look really nice 3 bedroom would be great .Will look at other ones get it all together than we can make our plans . I saw the Meriton I t looks like we will have lots to choose from. That must have been a wonderful vacation with your family what did you do in Melbourne?

It was a fantastic vacation even though it was in the middle and being from Queensland I froze every time we went out lol. DH, our 3 children and I shared a 3 bedroom apartment with my parents and my sister was in another 3 bedroom apartment with her husband and 5 children so each one was at max capacity but never felt crowded as they were pretty big. We went to the zoo, the aquarium, one day we caught a train out to an outer suburb and took the kids to the science works museum which was fun, we spent a day at Luna park which is like a mini carnival nothing spectacular compared to the Gold Coast theme parks but it was still fun, there is a BIG markets there that sell everything we went there the first day and got some fresh fruit, vegetables and meat to make some of our meals over the 10 days and it was fantastic and so cheap we wouldn't have spent more then $50 and on the days we didn't have any particular plans we would just jump on some trams and explored different suburbs. Also because it was my birthday while we were there my husband surprised me with a horse and carriage ride through parts of the city which was fantastic and I would absolutely recommend it. I love Melbourne so in my opinion no matter what you choose to do there you can't go wrong :)

The store will be opening in the new Emporium in Melbourne about June/July this year. Judging from the size of the store, it's highly likely to be a full range store.

I was in the city this morning and made a point to take a look at the Pleasure State pricing. It seems to be about $130 for a bra.

Remember that our cost of living is a LOT higher than what you're used to. Think Disney sticker shock and then add some more. :thumbsup2

  • Queen Victoria Market
  • Sunday Craft market at either the Arts Centre or St Kilda. I would go to St Kilda and then walk towards Acland Street for some cakes.
  • Explore the laneways and arcades in Melbourne
  • Catch a Musical. I think you might want to see if your dates overlap with The Lion King. If not the Lion King, then there should be a couple of other musicals on in Melbourne.
  • Depending on your dates, you might want to see if you overlap with any of the Festivals that are on in Melbourne. Here's the 2014 list.
  • There are 3 zoos around Melbourne. Zoos Victoria will list all 3; and activities. Melbourne Zoo is a traditional zoo; with an Australian animal section. If you're hitting Taronga Zoo in Sydney, then you might want to give this one a miss. Werribee Zoo is an open range, African savannah zoo. You'll get to see African animals there. Healesville Sanctuary has already been mentioned. That's the one I would try to get to if you want to see Aussie animals and want to be able to get up close.
  • You've already mentioned you want to see the Fairy Penguins at Phillip Island. I would recommend that if you have time, you consider the
  • 3 Parks Pass, which gets you in to the Koala Sanctuary, Churchill Island and the Penguin Parade. But only if you have time and the 3 experiences appeal to you and the family.

And if you want a DisMeet, let me know. I'm always up for a DisMeet. :goodvibes

I agree with this point. On our first trip to the US, we were really pleasantly surprised by the prices at DLR for food, merchandise... everything really! By the time we added tax and tip, it was about the same as regular everyday pricing for us. It was only once we traveled around the US a bit more that we realised how expensive Disney was!

Which brings me to another point. The price that you see for most things in Australia is the final price. It is illegal for a vendor to not include tax in the total, and there is no tip required :thumbsup2 I struggle so much with pricing in the US for this reason! Occasionally, you will find a restaurant which charges extra for public holidays.

And if you want a DisMeet, let me know. I'm always up for a DisMeet. :goodvibes

Me too :thumbsup2

I know this post is a few months old, but I was reading through the posts as I am new....I can highly recommend both the Outback Spectacular on the Gold Coast and The Ghan train trip....

The Outback spectacular is a horse show about two Australian cattle properties, you get an an amazing 3 course meal and drinks, the story changes every couple,of yrs or so, the first show we saw The Light Horse and then last yr it was Phar Lap.....both were amazing shows....

The Ghan - AMAZING!!!! Sit back and watch the australian out back go past, you get to do whistle stop tours, in both Alice Springs and Katherine, we road it from Adelaide to Darwin, myself and my teenage daughter, she loved it....once in Darwin there is so much to see, from Kakadu and crocodiles to Litchfield and waterfalls....a part of australia that takes my breath away, so serene and so quiet, nothing like the hustle and bustle if our other capital cities.....

Your trip sounds amazing, hope you have a great time down under...

Thank you so much getting closer to booking I am definatly planning a train trip. M y travel agent has made a few suggestions but we are going to do Sydney bridge climb Outback most major cities Philip island Melboune zoo and theme parks Gold Coast . Welcome to Disboard.
