Thats so exciting!! Are you all packed and ready to go?

How in the world have you managed to keep it a secret from them? When are you going to tell them?

Not at all Aussiegirls! After getting home in June I sunk into a deep Disney depression. I sometimes couldn't bring myself to get back on the dis but after a while I was living vicariously through you all. Now most of you have been and gone and I can't even get excited for you.

I keep thinking back to this time last year and everthing was about the upcoming trip. Buying little disneyish things for christmas etc etc. Basically I'm not happy if I'm not planning my trip and at the moment I have nothing!!!!

Aussiegirls & lovintheland -Start to plan one..... like they said in Field of Dreams: "Build it and they will come".

Imagine you are going on one - plan a dream holiday, work out the best ime of year to go, select a hotel or two, get some quotes from an agent, pencil it into your diary, start buying a few bits and pieces like travel sized toiletries, a new backpack....you never know where it may lead.

My last trip was done like this - I wanted to take my son to WDW since he was just a blip on the ultrasound. In 2007 when he was about 4 I started to look online, educate myself about what was what at Disney, I bought stuff for myself, I even started saving my gold coins and $5 notes in an old lunchbox. Then, out of the blue, we got the gems message where Delta announced they were flying to Australia, and Disney announced free dining, and I was all set to book and go! I knew how long I wanted to stay, what hotel I wanted, what tickets I wanted etc. Literally, when I woke up on the Monday morning I had no idea that by Thursday afternoon that week I'd have a trip to WDW in the bag. :woohoo:

Good luck!! :wizard:

Awwwwww thanks Oz-kateer, that made me smile :flower3:

Our trip was meant to be a once in a lifetime thing. I just didn't plan on falling in love with the place, or maybe I fell in love with being with my girls and watching them there. Either way, it feels as though we just aren't finished with it - does that make any sense? It just seems as though our holiday isn't over and I need to go back and complete it. I think I must sound like a looney and be making absolutely no sense :confused3

I know when I want to go (next Christmas) but I am not so sure that will be possible because of the cost of airfares for that time of the year. But anyway I am going to start saving and when a good deal comes out I will be in a position to just grab it. And if it turns out we can get a good deal in December 2010 then even better :thumbsup2

Disneyland has just become a part of my heart and I totally did not expect that to happen.

Aussiegirls, that's exactly how I feel. I went in 2007 when my daughter was 2 and she enjoyed it but was really too young, now she is 4 and I am desperate to take her back. There was so much we didn't do as she was too little. We are contemplating going back late next year also, but will have to see how the dollars pan out. We actually have a trip to Hong Kong in March so we will definitely go to disney there, but I am guessing it won't be the same. If I see a really cheap fare for late next year I think I might just grab it. Who knows how long these cheap fares are going to last. I would hate to be a few years down the track and think about what could have been!

you're totally making sense. We went this time last year with our two oldest children and while we were there we were already planning our next trip. We had no idea it would come so soon though. Being at Disney was amazing for us, we were like kids again. It was just sooooooooo much fun and that place is addictive. I don't think you could explain it to someone who hasn't been there.

Now about not telling our kids..........It's been sooooooooo darn hard :rotfl: We are telling them on Friday morning and the taxi will be picking us up at 8:15 Friday morning. They're going to wake up thinking they have to get to school, then there will be a BIG package waiting at the front door. When they open it helium balloons will fly out (hopefully :)) and there will be a card in it from Mickey asking them to come over. We can't wait to tell them.

Oz-kateer, that is exactly how I got to have the trip I just had. I just started picking a time of year that would work for us, started looking at flights and accommodation, all the while my husband had completed vetoed the idea of going. I just kept acting like it was happening, got a planning folder, read everything I could on here and just believed. And then one day he just agreed and now we have had our 3 week US trip of a lifetime. It was also supposed to be a once in a lifetime deal as DH wants to explore other countries, but I too feel the same as Aussiegirls, I just feel like I am not quite done with Disneyland yet. I'm so busy with work over the next 2 months but after that is behind me, I'll start focussing on my imaginery holiday again and see if the universe won't bring it too me again, :rotfl:

Oz-Kateer, thanks for the great idea! I will have to get planning. I turn 40 in 2011 too and I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd rather spend it. Our trip in 2007 was supposed to be our "once in a lifetime" trip and here we were again this year, and as you said Aussiegirls, We still don't feel finished with Disney. I really thought that after the trip this year we would feel like we'd done and dusted it, but no chance. It truely does create magical family memories. We reminice every single day.

Jacs my insides are jumping with excitement for your kids surprise. I wish you were my mum LOL! What a way to surprise them. Make sure you video it.

Have fun! :)

That is so true - my kids (9 and 6) still talk about our trip (April this year) every day. We don't plan on going back until 2011 but I'm get vicarious thrills reading about everyone else's trips here - and I check miceage.com every weekend to see new pics of the park!
The kids love doing that too - seeinghow the lake is filling up, how work is progressing on Carsland etc etc.

It cheers me up to knpow DL is still there and still wonderful and still bringing so much pleasure to people - even though we are thousands of miles away and years away from seeing it again! (I do get so envious though of AP holders who "pop in every Thursday evening" or whatever...!)

Jacs - have a fantastic time - I will be thinking of your kids exploding tomorrow morning!!

As we were planning a trip for Nov 2010 for my son instead of him going to schoolies. DW asked me what I want to do for our Anniversary I told her I would like to have breakfast at the Paza Inn she looked at me and said are you serious I said Yes, well you plan it. So we are going in Jan/Feb for 6 days and then home just a short trip I know it is crazy to do this but I just enjoy being there. Sorry I dream of Disneyland everday even at work. I am just trying to encourage you that you may never know when your next trip to Disneyland will be, the Disney Blues do pass but it does take time, as I told my brother you like to holiday up north we go to Disneyland that is our holiday home.

Jacs1234 Have a safe trip it is so lovely to see how you are surprising your children.

Thanks for the advice Darren. No we are not staying at the hotel, but plan to go early one morning and have breakfast there. One or both of the hotels do a character breakfast. I've heard the park is quite small, so should be good for our 4 year old DD and 1 year old DS. Yes looking forward to the food in HK. I love Dim Sum!! I have printed off a small map of the website so that should be ok. Thanks again!

Aussiegirls, we usually go over christmas to the states as that is where my family is we find good airfare deals as long as we fly out before December 9th. It is actually one of the cheaper times to fly.

Thanks for that Willow, it's good to know, and it gives me hope. So when you go how long do you stay and is the return flight a killer?

xxxx

I was going to go to DL but have decided to take DS and the live-in tribe to WDW instead - all 4 of us - mainly because of Harry Potter opening at Universal. I worked out the costs and it's only marginally more expensive to do WDW instead of DL if we stay at a value resort.

So WDW here we come in Sept!! Now all I have to do is come up with the money. Every dollar not spent on something dumb is a dollar towards Disney.

Remember: Build it and they will come....

Soak01 - You do need to declare all foods. We had tea and some chocolate as well. We just told them and didn't have any problems. I've never declared panadol or any over the counter stuff and never had a problem. I always have a letter from the doctor for my prescriptions.
