Aurora's New Look Debuts at Walt Disney World

My daughter says she could do a better job hemming that new gown than Disney did. Maybe they'd let her try? ;) (On that original post the lining layer hangs longer than the outer layer, and it puckers where they hemmed it.). But then I'm a sewing snob. :snooty:

Yeah I can definitely see that!

Now this Aurora is gorgeous!! not sure where she is located.

This pic is from WDW. The hair looks great! I love the new look.

This friend looks like the friend in the Belle debut. Very pretty girl.

Sadly, We are a bit of a tough crowd it seems though when it comes to the friends' beauty. Hard to replicate a drawing or digitally enhanced image in a real person.

I am not crazy about the patterned fabrics in the new gowns. Makes them look old rather than "fresh" to me.

Now in this picture I don't feel the dress is missing "regalness" as much. I've always thought Aurora's dress was the worst (maybe the fairies were too busy arguing to do good tailoring mom2rtk lol), so it's definitely a step up.

I think a lot of the comments on this thread are mean. That is a real person and she very well might see this thread. That said, I like the dress. It looks less hot than the old one. The wig seems messy/disheveled, but I have never really liked sleeping beauty's wig.

The dress is ok, but that wig! Look how you can see right through it over her shoulder. Maybe if it were styled better. Poor Aurora. She always has the worst hair of the Princesses.

I don't like the new dress. It is cheap looking from top to bottom. I couldn't understand why they changed it to such ugly dresses. Princess dresses should be grand and give you the wow factor, not something that looks like a Halloween costume. The way the dress wrinkle up at the waist line is simply unacceptable.

And I also agree that WDW should get prettier princesses.

It appears to me that on the old gown, the pointy peplum was part of the bodice section of the dress. On the new gown, it's part of the skirt or a separate piece entirely. But it's not attached to the bodice. And they are going for more of a dropped waist style on these gowns. Which is fine, but I can see where this might cause that peplum to wrinkle up some.

Much better wig! But I have to admit, the bottom of the dress looks a little thin, like maybe it needs something extra to lift it to make it a tad fuller? Just my thought. I think that that is what throwing the look off. Other than that it's beautiful!!! :goodvibes

Pretty, but I like the old outfit better. I guess it's just nostalgia on my part.

100% correct, they are mean however....

Disney is pretty selective in whom they hire for face roles. Do you think that this is based only on personality? No. It's based on look first. There may be a black person who does THE best Snow White we have ever seen - will she get cast? No. The whole acting industry is based on look first, and then whether their acting compliments the role. If these ladies didn't want to be judged on appearance they should've chose different careers - radio, perhaps. These girls may be the nicest ladies on the planet but in the opinion of some, with the pictures provided, some of these girls don't have the look.

yes her hair doesn't look so fake in the pic where she is out and about!!!

So let Disney be mean about it then. It all just strikes me as catty to bag on these girls like this.

Oh, I agree! I'm just saying that these girls are no different from the celebrity you see who looks like garbage and you comment on it. Because it's Disney doesn't mean they are in a different line of career, you know? Unfortunately, it's look based. That was my only point. I wasn't trying to infer that because they chose this career means that these comments are then ok, or deserved, or nice. I'm just saying that unfortunately, their job is based on look, so commenting on that is inevitable and in that inevitablity, SOMEONE is going to find flaws.
