Aunt Polly's No Longer Serves Lunch!

Hi.....we're here in the world.....half way through our 12 day trip, and everything has gone great.....only one minor hitch: Based on advice in the Unofficial Guide, I planned lunch at Aunt Polly's Dockside Inn on Tom Sawyer's Island for a more relaxed lunch on our long day (with E-Ride night) in the MK. Don't know if this is old news, but Aunt Polly's doesn't serve lunch anymore.....just desserts. At first, I was thinking I was really smart.....we could see on the way raft ride over that there were no crowds. As we waited for the raft, I took everybody's order based on the menus I'd memorized from the various menu boards. (O.K.....this menu was pretty limited, but still fine.) Once we arrived though (following the wait for the trip over, the preparations of everyone going to the restroom, etc.), reality set in: no more lunch.....just desserts. By that time we were at prime lunch time facing more commotion to get everyone back over on the raft and then long waits, so we adjusted and just ate dessert for lunch. Anyway, just wanted to warn everybody in case others had the same plan! Don't mean to be whining though.....if this is the worst thing that happens in the entire trip we can be pretty pleased!

I'll bet that was disappointing since you planned to eat lunch, there. What kind of desserts do they have??

Too bad, we've eaten there for lunch a lot in the past. Thanks for the heads up about it.

OMG--
I've been planning our trip for YEARS and that was one of the lunches I wanted to do :( Supposed to be one of the least crowded places, with great shade, and great prices. Well--POO!

Oh well, thanks for the heads-up at least.

Hope your dessert was tastey. Do you remember what all they had?

when we ate there a few years ago they only had PB&J or turkey sandwiches anyway. We were pretty disappointed, since we don't eat PB&J, so we had a choice of turkey or nothing... I think we had ice-cream for lunch too.

That's Pretty Funny.

My family and I did the same thing in 2000. We wanted to get a quick lunch so we headed for Aunt Polly's. When we got there we found that our choices were PB&J or PB&J. I don't even think they had turkey sandwiches.

Now to here they just have dessert it really sounds like WDW is trying to phase Aunt Polly out. But, if they do I sure hope they replace her. It really has a nice location.

Hey, an excuse to have dessert for lunch.
Maybe I'll bring my family there for "lunch".;)
Don't anyone tell them I knew!!!

We just ate here in Feb, (and 1 - 2 times a year for the 3 previous years). They always had Ham, Turkey or PBJ. Then we would get chips and a pickle. It was so good - one of our faves. That bums me out that there are no more!
!!

Aunt Polly's had Day old cold fried chicken? It was the best! We loved going there for lunch!

MKY

What a bummer - although just having desserts for lunch sounds fine to me.

Maybe it's not a permanent thing....on the park schedule I noticed they listed Aunt Polly's as 'temporarily closed' even though they were open for desserts (at least they had been earlier in the week.) The desserts were ice cream desserts.....I don't remember exactly what.....I think the choices were basic soft serve ice cream, brownie sundae, strawberry shortcake sundae, etc.

Too bad, I remember having a pleasant lunch there a few years back. I too remember ham, turkey and pb&j, chips, lemonade and cookies. It was a nice setting.

BuzzLightYear3, glad to hear your group adjusted to the situation, that's an important thing at WDW... just go with the flow!:D

Brownie sundae for lunch? Sounds like my kind of place.;)
