My mother's only sister passed away this afternoon after battling with colon cancer for several years. She made it alot longer than we ever expected and alot healthier than we expected. Her condition progressed very swiftly over the last few weeks. We were told last week she only had a few weeks left, but today I got the news that she passed. I was in the car on the way to a temp agency to fill out a form for a background check for job that I may be starting on thursday. I was very upset but managed to calm myself down though I was unavoidably still shook up when I went in. I wasn't sure if it was the right time to mention it to them but I did bc I felt I needed to let them know the situation and that I still wanted the position but I needed to find out the funeral details. The woman didn't really say that much other than they would let me know whether I got the position and to keep them posted on my situation. I think I should have clarified that I would probably just need one day for the funeral this week, but I was just trying to get the paperwork done and get out of there so I could get home and grieve properly. I hope I did the right thing.
I am very sad but I am very grateful to have these boards. I unfortunately had to spend the afternoon alone with no one to talk to about the news and so I decided I needed to distract myself. I have been able to focus on reading everyone's great posts about everything Disney. And somehow in all the sadness it was able to distract me for a while. So thank you to everyone on here who, even when you are very sad, can put a smile on your face.
