So we are booked for part of a trip for Spring Break next year. They only had four of the 7 nights that we wanted. Can anyone help with a nice place to stay for the other three nights? Is there a different area that we should stay so that we can see other parts of the Island?

Did you wait list? The final phase is scheduled to open early 2013.
Otherwise, I've stayed 2 lagoons down at Marriott's KoOlina Beach Club - wonderful experience!

I'm with DiznyDi on this one. Wife and I stayed at the Marriot Ko-Olina back in 2004 and had a wonderful time.

BTW, the island is so small, it doesn't matter where your accommodations are with respect to visiting other areas of the island. I highly recommend the Polynesian Cultural Center on the northern shore.

If you can't stay at Aulani, I would book the remaining nights in Waikiki. Will give you the flavor of the more iconic parts of Oahu. Tons of hotels to choose from. We stayed in Waikiki for 2 nights at the begining of our trip as we couldn't get Aulani those first few days. It was a good experience. We've also stayed at the Marriott Ko Olina but that might be somewhat of a let down with Aulani right down the road.

We just got back from a week in Aulani. There is a ton of stuff to do in Waikiki, and although the drive back and forth isn't long in distance, it is in time.; traffic is bad....rush hours, construction,, and wrecks. We've decided when we go back, we'll stay there first, then head to Aulani for R&R.:thumbsup2

We spent 5 days in Oahu last March and stayed on the North Shore. Well, we spent 1 night in Waikiki (not for us, crazy loud and busy) and then 4 nights in Haleiwa. We loved it! .we did a day trip to.Aulani too (review here of Aulani, and pics and review of our beach house: http://ouradventuresasafoursome.blogspot.com/2012/03/day-2-diamond-head-aulani-and-our.html)

It is Ke Iki beach bungalows. We had the best one there and the 2 bedroom house was $200 a night.

We booked a spring trip already. 4 nights in 1 bedroom Aulani villa (rented points) and then 4 back at the same beach bungalow. We can't wait!

In that same review I posted you can click on other days to see our activities we did (diamond head, kualoa ranch, Makapuu hike, Kailua town, turtle bay, sharks cove, etc).
