I was wondering if anyone has been or is going to Aulani in Hawaii? I have had a look at the website and it all looks so beautiful but I haven't heard much about it.

I can't find a Disboards section on it if anyone could point me in the right direction:)

I think it is so so so nice too. That's where we want to stay when we go!

We have booked for three nights on our way to Disneyland for Christmas. We will be there in just over 18 weeks.

DH, our two daughters 12 & 9 and my parents are staying in two ocean view rooms. We have also booked a character breakfast. We are very excited.

so on further reading I noticed it doesn't open till the end of this month so I doubt anyone has been!!

Hopefully some Aussie/Kiwi Disboarder is palnning a trip there soon?

Kylieh - it looks amazing:cloud9:

It opens August 29. There are some preview weekends coming up I think I read somewhere.

I have not looked at retail prices as I have DVC points at this (and other) Disney resorts, but I would recommend looking at renting DVC points to stay there rather than paying Disney prices.
There is information about Aulani on various websites in the lead up to the opening later this month, mostly as a result of the DVC part, however discussion of disboards etc. has recently been dominated by the massive stuff up over annual dues payable by DVC members being set too low leading to the firing of three senior Disney executives without severance payments.

I will look into DVC points, how do I find out how much per night it would cost? thanks:)

WOW! :scared1:

We are booked to stay 2 nights using points on our way back from WDW 18th & 19th January. Good way of splitting the long flight home.

hey there

We are using our DVC points to stay 9 nights poolview studio in feb 2012. cant wait, and hopefully they will have ironed out any issues by then.
character breakfast is also on our list of things to do......we are going for the international soccer tournament- DH's idea, so I thought we may as well check out the resort for a few nights:lmao:

cant wait to start reading the reviews.......:cheer2:

Well I can't wait till some of the Aussie DISers can report back on their stays:)

I am going to keep my eye on it and if any specials come up then we will stay there, if not I will have to do some research on hotels in Hawaii. All we want to do is swim, eat and relax:lovestruc so we probably won't leave the hotel:rotfl:

Will only stay 4 nights or so.

I had a look at the DVC point renting page but I couldn't get the table big enough to see the points without the image becoming so fuzzy I couldn't make them out!

hey there

if you want to see the resort but its too $$$ to stay, look at staying at the resorts next to it..i think one is a marriott...you can then do character dining and snorkle the pools etc without paying the $500 + a night.

DVC points are 222 for 9 nights poolside studio in value season....you can buy points for $12 a point thru timeshare store.

i cant wait to get there, it'll still have that "new car" smell....:rotfl:

Sorry about the table, here are some examples of points per night (rental is about US$10 per point): -

January 8 - February 25, September 2 - October 6:-

Studio 18 (standard), 19 (pool), 23 (partial), 25 (ocean)
1 bed 36 (standard), 37 (pool), 44 (partial), 46 (ocean)

You have done the homework needed. It works out well with the DVC points compared to paying the room rate.

To trust a DVC owner and rent the points from them might be a big step for some though.

I rented points out last year on the rent/trade section, I must have received about 40 requests within the space of a few days, to the first three contacts I emailed an offer and a contract and checked the availability with MS. The money was deposited upfront by Paypal within two days. It is first in wins.

For anyone wanting to rent off a DVC owner the trick is to trust they will do the right thing and be quick with the process and pay by Paypal.

There are 4 lagoons in that area - Aulani is on the 1st lagoon and Marriot Ko'olina is on the 3rd and you can easily walk to from end to end. We stayed at the Marriot last year and it was really nice. If you stay there, you can eat at the Aulani restaurants but you won't be able to use the pools without a room key. One day we forgot to get our pool bracelets and they would not let us do the pay-snorkeling until we got them. We also saw many people evicted from the pool area once CMs noticed that they did not have the Aulani bracelets on. You can swim in any lagoon of the 4 lagoons though. They are public property.
