just a few things i am wondering about. would like some opinions please! do you think it will be near impossible to book a reservation here 7 months out? thinking of maybe trying to get in May 2012 which would mean i could book next October. Do you think Aulani owners will rent their points and if so for how much? may be worth buying points to ensure you get the dates you want? like i said, just looking for some opinions. thanks!!!!:goodvibes

I would guess that booking at the 7 month window might not be too tough (if you call exactly at 7 months) in the beginning as it will take time for Disney to sell lots of points at Aulani. But that's just a guess.

I didn't want the hassle of it, so I bought into Aulani already and plan on making my first reservation there for September 2011.

We bought a small add-on at Aulani so that we wouldn't have to fight with others at the 7 month mark.

I don't have all my Aulani docs in front of me but...Phase 1 of Aulani is supposed to open next year with approximately 70 or so 2 bedroom villas. I think 30 or so of those are dedicated 2 bedrooms, and 40 or so are 2 bedroom lockoffs, which essentially translates to studios plus 1 bedrooms. (Someone else previously posted the actual stats/numbers on the boards.)

Phase two is not supposed to open until Winter 2012.

If you plan on going in May 2012, you're basically fighting for (at most) 30 dedicated 2 bedrooms OR 40 studios OR 40 1 bedrooms amongst ALL of the DVC owners. If people book up the 2 bedroom lock-offs, the availability of studios and 1 bedrooms go down.

Availability will be limited. Just a thought.

p.s. As an Aulani owner, I probably will not consider renting out my points for a few years since I'd want to enjoy it myself.

It could depend on how well it sells. If it is slow to sell, there will be less member inventory. I don't know Hawaii's seasons, but if May is a higher season for them, you might have a hard time.

Nope. Not me!
As there are no "developer points" with purchase, at this point I don't think many will be renting 2011 pts for your 2012 trip. Everyone will want to use what they buy for themselves.

How much are the points going for????:confused3

Currently, $114 per point. November 1st, price will increase to $120/pt.
$114 per point; 25-49 points
$114 base price less $6 promotional discount; 50-99 points
$114 base price less $8 promotional discount; 100-124 points
$114 base price less $10 promotional discount; 125-249 points
$114 base price less $12 promotional discount; 250+
