Aulani

I thought it was interesting that the article said "this was the first Disney Hotel to not be next to a theme park". Then I remembered that HH and VB are DVC resorts. Also I feel the article is misleading that it lists Aulani has 800 rooms but doesn't bother to state that some of the rooms are allocated as DVC villas.

480 are DVC, but about 180 of them will be "dedicated weeks" like a traditional timeshare ( so no points to use at other DVC resorts). So traditional DVC will be about 300 rooms.

Well, that blatant factual error doesn't come as surprise. Disney has been cutting back at ABC, particularly in the news division. That equates among other things less background research/fact checking. Which leads to erroneous content and omissions. Which become all the more embarrassing when said mistakes are not only published by a Disney subsidiary but are in stories about Disney. :rolleyes1

I thought that Hilton head and Vero Beach were 100% DVC resorts, and not a regular hotel or mix type is that not true. Thanks for any info to clear this up for me

Expect they can trade in their week and get points for sue at other DVC resorts.

"This purchase option, which DVC calls Guaranteed-week Reservations, will permit buyers to use their ownership toward other Disney Vacation Club resorts and exchanges, subject to a unique set of terms and conditions. Guaranteed-week owners have until 31 days prior to their scheduled arrival to "opt out" of the guaranteed reservation. The member will then receive the number of DVC points stated within the contract. Those points are subject to normal DVC usage guidelines, banking, borrowing and transfer rules."

Now this is interesting... and may make the week option worth it..
