Poking around DVCMember.com and looking for some Aulani pics and I noticed this little factoid.....

Wow, Disney gets with the program. I guess they realized that their Japanese guests would expect nothing less than wireless internet. Maybe there is hope for the rest of the DVC resorts.

I read in an article that on some Japanese smartphones you can text your house and turn on the A/C before you get home, turn on appliances (like ovens, rice cookers, slow cookers) to start your dinner before you get home, etc. I'm sure the Japanese tourists would laugh so hard if they got there and Disney did not have wireless available

Sounds about right. DH was just in Korea, and you can pay for things using your phone...I mean, you're there at the store, and you pay with your phone instead of money or a card.

We are SO behind. He's really looking forward to getting the technology Korea has right now in, oh, about 7 years...

It's wireless at VGC, VB and HHI already. Why oh why they don't/won't at WDW.

It seems like they would have to implement this before they start taking reservations for Aulani to facilitate accepting reservations from both Japanese and American markets at once. How do members in other countries currently make their reservations? Do they call Member Services long distance? I'm just imagining non-English speaking Japanese members calling MS to make a reservation...!

You also get free wireless internet in the guest rooms at HHI. That's been in place for a year or two. Makes me wonder why DVC at WDW doesn't offer free wireless, only wired.

I prefer a wired connection.

Faster speed, (Disney is notoriously slow), and better security. I'm amazed at how many personal wireless routers don't have security enabled.
