Would love suggestions on where you headed on your north shore day. Including, time you left the resort and number of hours you were gone.

Also, what did you eat? Breakfast, lunch, snacks, dole whip??

We are me, my dh and 2 dd's in their 20's.

Thank you!

We went to the North Shore on two different days. We ran out of points before we left the island so we spent one night at Turtle Bay Resort in North Shore.

YES on the Dole Pineapple whip!!! Did not do the train ride, maze, or tour but had a good time looking around the grounds and seeing Pineapple grow. DIL got some sandals from the gift shop that she has been very happy with.

Ate at some food trucks - North Shore Tacos (by the Hula dog stand) had AMAZING grilled shrimp & pulled pork tacos. Would go back today if I could.
Hula Dog was ok but it was more "bready" than I prefer.

In another food truck area we tried Giovanni's shrimp; it was fabulous and we also ate at Dat Cajun Guy's truck. (same lot) Their shrimp poor boy was excellent.

Never could get into the Motsumoto shave ice - it was always way too busy. But we found another shave ice that was EXCELLENT. It was Aloha's General Store (by the Breaker's restaurant). Try the combination bowl with ice cream & shave ice... we went back twice.

Also ate at Ted's bakery - twice. Tried Loco Moco there and it was pretty darn good. They move people through quickly so don't let lines scare you off. It's a small place so it just looks crowded. It's across from the beaches.

Also tried Maui Mike's chicken. It was good but very similar to rotisserie chicken from Sam's Club. It's not really located close to beaches or attractions, so I wouldn't go out of my way to get there.

Finding parking at any of the beaches was tough but if you can find a place to park they have amazing beaches. The Turtle Bay resort allows public access and they have a large parking lot with bathrooms next to the public access path.

We also toured Waimea bay and walked to the falls. Beautiful trees and plants.

Hope this helps!

Any sites, or just Dole, Beaches and food??

Thought I heard about a coffee plantation. Is that on the north shore?

I don't think there are really any "sites" in the North Shore area except for Waimea Falls. I do remember going past a coffee plantation but we didn't stop. I think it was very close to the Dole Plantation.

We did buy some yummy smelling soap/lotion products from the Longs Drug Store in the North Shore. The company is called Bubble Shack Hawaii and the "flavor" we selected is "Juicy Pineapple". OMG, it smells so good. There are several testers in the store.

Swim with the sharks! Can't remember the name but a quick google "north shore + sharks" will get you there.

I think we arrive at Aulani around the time when you are leaving and are also planning a North Shore day. I am going to book surf lessons up there in the morning and then we will hit the food trucks for lunch. Waimea Falls could be an afternoon activity for us. I haven't really researched the falls yet tho...

Last October, we spent one day to/from the North Shore. We left the resort around 9am (I think) and stopped at the Dole Plantation. We did the maze (kids' request, very HOT) and had Dole Whips. We left there maybe around 11 and made a stop at Turtle Beach. There were TONS of turtles and we watched one spend some time crawling up onto shore. Then we stopped at Giovanni's (the one further around the island, not near Haleiwa). We first stopped at Macky's but they said it would be 30min and we didn't want to wait so we moved on. Loved the garlic shrimp (second time there). Then we spent a few hours at the PCC. We stayed until after the float parade (think we left 4:30ish). We stopped at Ted's Bakery for pie on our way home (it was ok). We headed back toward Ko Olina and probably would have been back to the resort by 6:30 or so but ended up stopping for salads at Aloha Salads.
