We are leaving for Aulani next week for 10 days. Of course it's beautiful there now, but the forecast is showing rain pretty much every day for our trip. We've been looking forward to it for the last 7 months, especially given our record breaking cold winter! Just wondering for those who have been to Aulani this time of year, when they say "rain" do they mean torrential downpours every day or some light showers?

Aulani is our home property, so we've been there during all sorts of weather events. I wouldn't stress about it too much. Typically, the rain comes in and then it moves on in short order. Also, that forecast changes quit frequently, based upon my experience. I've been there when rain was forecast for the entire trip, and not a drop fell. I've also been there when the exact opposite is true....Sun for days, except that it poured ever. single. day! Even if it rains though, it's a "warm rain", so it's not uncomfortable to be in. To be honest, I like the rain because it clears out the pool area. I've never really gotten that. You're in the pool, so you're already wet. Why are you get out when it rains? Anyhow, there will be ample deck chairs to choose from, and you and your stuff will stay dry if you're under one of the umbrellas. The only down side to the rain is that it will cancel the movie on the lawn and the Starlit Hui show.

Maybe it's because I'm from Seattle the wet stuff doesn't bother me so much. It has certainly never ruined a stay on the island though.

Have a great trip!!!

Aulani is on the dryer side of Oahu so the rest of the island might be receive heavy rain and Aulani get a single light shower. You might want to check the weather for Kapolei, Hawaii. That is the town that is close to Aulani.

My experience as well - almost always its just a short, quick shower, and occasionally a rainy day. If just a passing rain shower, we continued doing whatever we were doing. If a rainy day, we go to a museum, shopping, or find other ways to occupy our time, and it seems like it doesn't rain everywhere at the same time. We don't stress about it, there is always tomorrow.

Rain is fine because, as others said, you're on the dry side of the island. What we've been getting too much of these days are the south winds, which bring the "vog" (volcanic fog) from the Big Island. Weather is beautiful now with lovely tradewinds to keep the vog away, so let's hope it holds!

We'll see you at the pool!
