Just needing some info. Going to Aulani in Jan!! I will be vacationing with my cousin on Kauai and hopping over by myself for 2 days. Don't really think I need to rent a car because only there 2 days. Has one way taken a taxi there? I have heard its about $60.00. What do you think? thanks:wizard:

I am wondering the same thing. If the cab fare is $60 that's no bad. There will be three people, that price is comparable to Mears in Orlando, if not more.

$60.00 for 3 is not bad at all. But it's only me. Maybe I can hitch a ride with someone going there and pay part of it. I'm hoping so.:hippie:

Even for a few days there, I'd still highly recommend a rental car. There is very little to do in the area around the resort and the food options are limited and very expensive. Even with the added expense of the car you might actually save money overall.

In any case you are going to have a fantastic time...the resort is simply amazing!!

Thanks for your input. I think I will probably be renting a car. There are some things around the island I would like to see. Want to recommend one or two for me??? Thanks!

I think Pearl Harbor / Arizona Memorial is a must-see for anybody who has never been to Oahu before. It's really moving and I think even small kids get the significance of the area. Other things that are good/fun to do - the hike to the top of Diamond Head (go early in the AM before it gets hot!), spending the day at Polynesian Cultural Center and learning about various cultures of the Pacific, going out to Hanauma Bay to snorkel with fish (or to Shark's Cove if it's not wintertime), the views at the Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay of the surfers if the surf is up during the winter (though traffic will be a mess). Just some thoughts.

FYI...
I read the shuttle fee for up to 4 people is $60, but a taxi is closer to high $60's or more depending on traffic.

I am traveling by myself. I am hoping to find a nice DVC family that will share a ride with me. Yep...I have made a sign to take to the airport. :hippie: that's pretty funny as I have never done anything like that before. If I can't find someone to share a ride with, well I guess I'll be paying $60 plus tip. Yikes
