I got a surprise in the mail today from Aulani:cool1:

I received a book with the above title and a bookmark which said:

MAHALO...... Thank you for being among the first 2, 500 Guests to book a stay at Aulani!

We're thrilled to present you with this first-edition printing of a storybook that comes straight from the heart of Aulani and the legends of Hawai'i.

An original composition, written by Scott Ritchey, designed by Steve Carsella and illustrated by Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, "The Untold Tales of the Menehune" introduces the stories of the magical, mischievous Menehune of Hawai'i into the Disney collection of tales. We hope you enjoy it. Mahalo nui loa Your Aulani friends

We will be staying at Aulani Nov 1-8 in an oceanview 1 bedroom (DVC points) and I believe we booked at the 7 month window. Anyway, the book was an unexpected surprise and I look forward to hearing more here on the board from other guests. If you received a book and we'll be among the first guests please post:beach::beach:

We received the book today. We will be at Aulani Sept 27-Oct 1st. I am so excited and thought the book was a very nice touch.

We got the book today too! So exciting! It is really nice quality. Did you notice that Aulani imagineer Joe Rhode did the illustrations? It must be difficult for him to have SO MUCH talent.

Edit: I just read the book to my DS4 and it's really special and wonderful that Disney went so far as to create an offshoot of a Hawaiian myth that explains and weaves magic into the Aulani. How many hotels can say that there is a magical back-story to their existence? And there's even a little DVC gem at the end. Color me impressed. I think they should have these books printed and left in the nightstands of the rooms (maybe just for hotel guests?) with an option to purchase for $10. I'm sure there will be plenty of tie-ins around the resort to this story. I can already envision a few apart from the Pu'ukino.

Oh cool. I wonder if I got it. I should since I am staying there in Sept so I had to have been one of the first 2500. Can't wait to go home and see :)

Wow I saw somewhere that parking is $25.00 a night. $150.00 to park for a week or $300 for two weeks. I am shocked.

Got mine too. It really is a cute book. I love when I get little unexpected surprises like that!
