for those who have stayed here do many of the the ocean view rooms have a complete view. i noticed on the dvc site that they say the views can be partial. how partial are they. don't want to use up more points if i get only a slight glimpse of the ocean. is it worth the extra points. other choice was the garden view TIA

Our Ocean view was what I would call an Ocean view - not partial view. It was similar to ocean views I've had at other Hawaii resorts. They are not ocean front though - ie, nothing else in the view but ocean out the door. You can see the island and other nearby hotels. And depending on which room you are in you will see look down at the pool area. The iffy ocean view rooms IMO are the ones that face the direction of the Marriott (odd numbered rooms in the Waianae Building.

You spend a lot of time outside of the villa and there are plenty of opportunities to see the ocean if you didn't want to risk being unhappy with the view and did book the garden view.

I would definitely call my 'ocean view' room a 'partial ocean view' room at best. It was mostly of the J.W. Marriott hotel and parking garage next door, with a bit of ocean view.

I wouldn't book 'ocean view' again unless I could be pretty certain of getting a view like the one posted above.

My room was 813, and a photo of the view is in the thread linked to above.

What was the room number that had that great view? :thumbsup2

Hi there,

On our last visit to Aulani, we got upgraded to an 'Ocean View' room. I would not have been happy with the room we got if I had used DVC points. If you book an Ocean View using your points, then put in a request for something like the pictures above, then it would be absolutely worth it. Our Ocean View was over looking the car parks with a distant view of the water.

Oh I would've complained about that one!! That's not high enough to warrant OV points!! So sorry. I hope we get luckier than that....

The only rooms that have a full OV are the three bdrm villas because they face the ocean and the whole lanai faces the ocean. All other rooms are at an angle. With that said you will be able to see the ocean and of course some are better than others based on location and how high the floor is. I actually like the one's that face the pool and the ocean because you can see how busy the pool is and people watch.

Although we live here I always have a saying when staying at Aulani: It never gets old! We have been fortunate to be able to stay quite a number of times and sometimes sittling on the lanai in the morning or evening is awesome. We like the times when we are close to the Makahiki restuarant because you can hear live Hawaiian music at night with the night air and a cold drink on the lanai. The musicians are top notch local Hawaiian artists who have won awards and have recorded albums Never gets old!!!

We just got back from Aulani and stayed in a 3 bedroom villa on the 9th floor. Our ocean view was gorgeous! We slept with only the screen door closed every night. I need a sound machine now since I miss the sound of the waves.
