We're here now, and it is beautiful. My question is this , I just turned on the tv for the first time to catch the news, I don't have any of the local stations not even abc or espn. Was this the norm for anyone else? I don't want to complain while in paradise. Thanks for any info

OK, I am only answering becuz I live here now but grew up in Philly and NJ. :rotfl2: Anyway, you will need to call guest services to get it fixed becuz you should get the the local stations as well as espn. You traveled along way and need have the comforts of home like ESPN! We were there Labor Day weekend and will be there this Thursday as well.

Aloha!

On a sad note we lost one of our own today; Joe Frazier.

Call the front desk and ask them.

The TV system is very poor, or at least was when we were there in September. The local stations are the lowest on the dial, all of them appear between 2 and 13. When we were there the lowest 21 stations didn't come in at all and above that the picture was sticky and stuttered. This was reported by others as well, and we also observed it in the laundry room. A friend in Orlando whos wife works at Disney said that they were having issues, most likely with another company that installed the system.

It's not a normal cable distribution system, instead each TV has a modem and as you change channels you're actually telling the modem to get a different stream. Obviously they haven't perfected it.

We called the first day and they fixed it the next day, although due to the compression they use for the streaming channels the HD stations were a little soft, kinda like watching Netflix, not real HD TV. But hey, we're in Hawaii on vacation, so we didn't care much.
