First, I'd like to say thank you for all the pictures I was able to find here of the Aulani views!

I will have enough points for pool view in late summer or an ocean view but only in early June.

After looking at all the pics, I think I'll be very happy with the pool view, the grounds all look beautiful!

Any advice otherwise?

We loved our pool view room on our first stay in August of 2012.... requested highest floor for that category (which is 5th floor) and enjoyed looking down on the pool and also seeing a bit of ocean too.

We also really liked our Island View room Dec 2013 looking out over the Starlit Hui lawn.... it also had a bit of an ocean view, and saved us some major points.

Once thing to note is that early June, because of the lower points cost, can be pretty hard to get. Later June (after the points go up) and the rest of the summer don't seem to be quite as hard to get, especially if you have some flexibility in your dates. But it sounds like you could also do later in the summer if early June is not available.

You could always try for the June dates with an ocean view and then if you don't get it at the 7 month mark, go for the pool view at a later date. (Although I would also check for a pool view for the June dates if I couldn't get the Ocean view.) Whichever you decide to do I would be prepared to go online at the 7 month mark as soon as booking opens at 8:00 AM eastern. Many of the complaints for June are that people tried to get reservations later in the day, some only by an hour or two.

Good luck.

We have a pool view booked for next May/June. I'm going to request 5th floor, but I'm guessing a lot of people do that so we will be happy with whatever! Can't wait!

For me, ocean view was worth the extra points. It's Hawaii. I wanted to see the ocean when I drank my coffee in the morning and my wine in the evening. I will be getting OV next time too. Even if it requires borrowing points. :)

We've had ocean and pool view. I might be in the minority but the ocean view (14th floor) was too high for my liking. I much preferred the 5th floor pool view which had a peek of an ocean view!

We also had pool/ocean view (8th floor maybe?) It was great. We could also hear the music from the dining entertainment at night when we sat out on our balcony. Great way to enjoy a glass of wine.

So are the majority of the rooms in the Oceanview (and Island View) category. From what I've read here, it seems like the Pool and Standard views are floors 1-5.

Getting ready to make our 1st reservation at Aulani. Going back and forth between pool or ocean view. I need to go and find the link with photos!

We have been 6 times. 4 times Ocean view. Twice Pool view. Twice we received ocean view rooms on the top floor that were a Marriot/Ocean view. Did not like those as much as the Pool Valley/Ocean views. Pool/garden view we have had one Pool view room and once were overlooking the Starlit Hui area. Last time we requested a Valley Pool view and received a 3rd or 4th floor room overlooking the Pool which we enjoyed quite a bit. We are arriving on the 23rd with a one bedroom garden side pool view. We'll see how that works out, but I love the lower valley view rooms.

We have been to Aulani three times. Going again in April. Always had room 50 or 52...in the ewe tower, floor 9 and above. Perfect location. You can see the entire pool area, right over lazy river and a great ocean...plus listen to music at night. I have always requested the exact room location and have always gotten it.
