Aulani pool chairs

What’s your strategy for this? Do you have a specific area or type of seating you like?
We like the verandas first, malie deck 2nd, cabana’s 3rd, executive lanai last. Call at midnight Hawaii time 90 days out from your check in day.

If not…. it’s a 6:30am date between me and the other Dad’s trying to save seats with an umbrella/shade on our resort days…

I do get a little bit of joy seeing the ticked off faces of the people who come down at 7am and see the best seats are all taken… but I’d rather just pay the money and sleep in or take a walk down the lagoons.

Im also one to pay for the convenience and avoid the hassle. Thanks for this! We are going in February and we are going to do one solid pool day and I was trying to figure out what to book, or try and book.

I called at midnight in Hawaii 90 days before our first day and they had already reserved all the cabanas for our stay. Grrrr. Not happy about the system that allows others with stays before us to reserve for all the days of their stay--it encourages over-reserving and cancelling at the last minute.

Was up at 6am while on vacation at WDW to book my Casabellas this morning. Not all my choices were available even right at midnight. That’s okay. I’m sure those poor girls who answer the phone get yelled at so much.

The pool chairs with umbrellas or any type of shade are very hard to come by. I’m not sure how many people like to bake in the sun these days, but there were chairs available in full sun. Seems like they could solve some of the problem by investing in more umbrellas and maybe not letting one or two people claim 11 chairs at a time. My family went to place our stuff on 3 empty chairs. A woman came out of nowhere to tell me they were all hers. The father and kids had been sitting there with stuff in a bunch of other chairs and said nothing.
Some people come to Aulani and show no “Aloha” where majority of others do. Apologies for experiencing one of those that will never get what Hawai’i and Aulani is all about! I do hope you enjoy or enjoyed the remainder of your stay! Aloha!

Is it still hard to get pool chairs at Aulani? I know it was in the past due to people "reserving" them early in the morning.
When we went for spring break this year, there were a lot of people reserving chairs in the morning. This was especially true in certain pool areas. The beach chairs didn't seem to fill up as fast. Disney has a policy of removing towels from unoccupied chairs after a certain time, but I honestly never saw it enforced (because I wasn't looking for it, tbh). In practice, I just enjoyed the pool and ocean with my kiddos, and then got a towel once I needed one. I wasn't up for hours on end just sunbathing.

Later in the day, I tended to see plenty of available chairs, so this seemed to be a morning to early afternoon issue when we went.

What we found really annoying is that when people leave they just leave their towels on their chairs so you’re never sure if the chairs are available or the people are in the water. I think what would help with this problem is more towel return bins and more signage to use them.

Been to Aulani several times and during most visits, finding 4 chairs together is difficult. This last visit we typically were in the adult area where its better. I'm not a fan of waking up early to reserve chairs.

There should not be an “adult area” at a Disney hotel pool complex. Especially one where seating is scarce.

The pool was not adult only for quite a while after the pandemic. I don’t think that helped at all with the crowds as most of the time those chairs were available anyway. They are off on a corner of the complex and not close to the main pool, so not desirable. I think making the adult only actually does attract adults to these chairs and can actually help with freeing up chairs in other areas.

I respectfully disagree. This adult pool area is small, but we greatly appreciate it. It's nice to relax in this pool, where you can wear a sun hat and not worry about getting your face wet from chaotic kids splashing and excessive screaming. The adults-only hot tub is wonderful, but your body can only handle so much time in there.

It’s needed. It’s also not prime real estate.
I am actually really excited about having an adult pool for the first time on my upcoming trip. First trip in 2019 was during a big pool refurb when then main pool was closed, so they opened the remaining pools for everyone. Next trip in 2022 it was still available for everyone after Covid.

It’s better for everyone. Move the “adult element” to a designated area away from the kids & also give adults an area they can go without being swarmed by children.

Aulani is great in the morning and at night, but during the day most of it is an absolute madhouse.

Hard disagree. When you're a couple with no kids in tow, having a quiet space away from the kids is a nice reprieve.

(not directed at you) Maybe if families weren't reserving an entire section of chairs for EVERY PERSON IN THE FAMILY, when only one or two people use the chair at a given time this thread likely wouldn't exist.
