Is it still hard to get pool chairs at Aulani? I know it was in the past due to people "reserving" them early in the morning.

I agree, the only really hard chairs to get are chairs in the sun right in the first row next to the pools. Parents with smaller kids go for those because they can keep a good eye on the kiddos in the water right from their chair. I find most the whining here about chairs is from people that find 90% awesome to be not awesome enough.

So sad. We've been to Aulani several times. You'd think by now that they would have added deck space or more chairs for the amount of guests staying there!

We were just there in early March for our first visit, and the "pool chair problem" I was expecting wasn't a issue for us. Every day we could get spots, even in the middle of the day. Sure it was busy, but it seemed just fine to me.

I did watch the cast members following the posted policy of using a folded towel on unoccupied (no people, just stuff) chairs, which you're supposed to unfold when you return to indicate that you're still in the pool area. Also saw the result of this process - a party's bags and towels got picked up and moved because they were gone too long.

I guess everyone has different experiences. I was there two weeks ago and there was not a chair to be found. We sat on the ground on towels. They did however enforce the one hour thing, so on two occasions they took peoples things away and we got chairs.

was there the end of March and first part of this week. Chairs were hard to come by right at the beginning of the day if you didn't get a spot by 7:30. They were enforcing having someone from your party there at least until 8:00am. I saw them multiple times take stuff off of chairs that actively didn't have someone at them before 8:00. Other than that like others said they did go around and check on chairs every hour or so. Much easier to get chairs again after 3-4:00pm as some where taking breaks or heading out getting ready for dinner was my thought. Hope you enjoy your trip. Cast members were stating that this is spring break time and Aulani was pretty busy. Definitely utilize mobile ordering of food where you have a return window as waiting at Ulu could take 20+ minutes to get food.

We were there a week ago and it was impossible to get chairs in any location if you didn't get there before 7:30 am. After missing out on any chairs the first day because we were at the character breakfast from 7:45 - 9:00, we came down the next day at 7:15 am and were able to get 2 chairs for our group of 7. The day after that we came down at 6:15 am and were able to get 3 chairs in one location and 2 in another. I heard the people in the most desirable chairs (more shaded) tell the pool attendant they had gotten there at 5:35 am. There did seem to be some availability around 4 pm or so as some people began leaving...but before that you were out of luck if you didn't get something early.

This is probably a stupid question, but I keep reading about issues getting chairs by the pool and on the beach - are you not allowed to simply lay a towel on the ground and sit on that?

If towels and a beach bag are left unattended on the ground (while you're in the water), are they cleared away?

I thought I’d have to do towel on the ground. Beach chairs are much much easier to come by than pool chairs. I never saw all the beach chairs taken. We went in mid August for reference

On the days we couldn't find a single chair at any pool area, we went to look for a beach chair (because we had read they might be easier to come by). Couldn't find a single chair at the beach either. We ended up putting our towel on the sand...at least there is plenty of space there...as opposed to the pool deck, where there is not much of a place to spread out a towel on the concrete without being in a walkway. If you can't find a chair at the pools, they do have some cubbies in a couple of different pool areas...just big enough to stash a pair of sandals and a towel.

That's pretty awesome, because that's probably what most people need to do if they are focused on swimming! (I mean, I'm going to the pool to swim, so I don't need anywhere to SIT, I just need a place to put my stuff where it won't get soaked or be in someone's way/get lost)

The pool chairs with umbrellas or any type of shade are very hard to come by. I’m not sure how many people like to bake in the sun these days, but there were chairs available in full sun. Seems like they could solve some of the problem by investing in more umbrellas and maybe not letting one or two people claim 11 chairs at a time. My family went to place our stuff on 3 empty chairs. A woman came out of nowhere to tell me they were all hers. The father and kids had been sitting there with stuff in a bunch of other chairs and said nothing.

This is why we pay for reserved seating…. it keeps my blood pressure from rising. You can’t declare that you have reserved empty seats without personal property already on them.

What’s your strategy for this? Do you have a specific area or type of seating you like?
