I know that Aulani won't open until next year, but doesn't anyone know if DVC is offering points for 2010 (to bank or use elsewhere) if you buy now?

We just bought 190 points on October 13. June use year. The first points are in 2011. That is when the resort opens.

You can't get points for a resort that isn't open. This is because there's no parity with other members being able to book into the resort, either. So, thus, no points into the DVC system yet. On opening day, your 2010 points will be issued even though your use year is over half over (if it's Feb). You can make a reservation anywhere as an Aulani owner as long as it's after 8/29/2010.

That is not correct. Your first year of points that you will be issued is 2011.

You do not get any 2010 points.

I have an April UY. My points load April 1, 2011. I already have my September 2011 reservation.

Yes. I have a December use year and I purchased Aulani points. I will not get any points until December 1, 2011.

Yep, me too. The same thing was true with our VGC points. The resort, well the villas part, opened in Sep last year, but no points were available to us until Dec 1, 2009 due to our Dec UY. So we won't get our first Aulani points until Dec 1, 2011 just like Rob S.

A bonus is you won't have any dues until the resort officially opens. So if the resort opens July 1, you will have prorated dues for 2011 (1/2 year).

Sometimes in the past, DVD has offered Developer Points matching (or some percentage of) to the original purchase. But these points come out of DVD's retained interest or unsold inventory. SSR was a common place for Developer Points to be provided from. Typically this was done when sales were less then ideal.
