Aulani or Rci trade to Caribbean?

Can i ask how you got to St Thomas from San Juan?

We did a multi destination flight, so our tickets were actually around the same price as if we were just going directly to St Thomas. When we booked we just picked multi destination, put in where we wanted to stop and the dates. It was Detroit to San Juan, (3 night layover) than a flight to St Thomas, then return to Detroit.

I think that trip was American, then Cape Air, but I just booked thru Travelocity or expedia... can't remember which.

I've been to Hawaii about 20 times and last summer spent four weeks at Aulani, and been to the Caribbean about 10 times.

No contest, go to Aulani!!! :thumbsup2

I never even knew you could do that! We thought of doing that for Hawaii and stopping in San Diego for 2 days and I thought I needed to book separate tickets.

WOW! I want your vacation time!! I so don't get how DVC owners also travel to all these other places. DVC takes most of our time and money. I would love to say I have traveled as much as you! Where in Ohio are you? We are Cinti area....

FWIW I'd price it out every which way possible just to compare rates. I had HOPED to book a multi-city deal for our trip this summer but it was coming up to be a couple hundred more than when I looked at each leg separately (DC to LA w/ a stop for 4 nights then LA to HNL then HNL to OGG then OGG back to DC). It just never hurts to look at all your options. The only legs for us that were important to book together was our return home from Maui. I only wanted 1 stop but I didn't want to get into a situation where if we booked 2 different airlines that we'd have to go claim our luggage and go back thru security again (which may have been necessary if we ticketed 2 different flights on 2 different airlines).

So have you decided yet where you're going??

Thanks! I think we are leaning to going back to Rivera Maya....we got married there. I likes the ability to go to Playa and shop and they have a $1500 credit to do excursions, spa, golf. I just haven't found anything else comparable.

I think we will save Hawaii for a time when we can stay longer. Hubby really would like to take kids somedAy, but 5 plane tix will take a lot of saving for!

I'm not sure about all airlines but for the one's I'm familiar with you can have ONE stopover OR one situation of arriving one airport and departing another. This is especially helpful for HI since you might arrive say Maui and depart HNL or similar (we did just this option last summer).

You are such a wealth of information! What airlines do that?

I'm not aware of any that don't but I wanted to leave room for variability. I think it's often called an open jaw flight. I think some airlines still do other specialty tickets such as the around the world flights.

You can really play around with how you want to do it. It depends on the cost etc.

A couple of years ago we had a round trip ticket flying into London, Heathrow and out of Shannon, Ireland....it was cheaper to buy a seperate ticket on a local airline from Heathrow to Dublin, Ireland.
