The photos are just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing!

We're tentatively planning either a September or October, 2013 trip! Is September or beginning of October a better time?:surfweb:

Also, will the beach have lifeguards? I hope so, but Disney Vero Beach does not...When we were at Vero last summer, we moved a little down the beach and swam in front of the lifeguard!

Can you tell me a little more about this special type of slide they will have at Aulani? Is it a volcano slide? I'd love to hear more about it!!!:dance3:

How is the Marriott Ko Alina property next door?

Just can't wait to go to Hawaii for our first trip in 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will be awesome! Hope we get to go!!!!!!!!!!!!! Want to do an oceanfront studio! I'll spring for the points!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Your photos are AWESOME!!!!!!!THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Beautiful photos..I hope to visit there someday. Thank you for sharing!

I want to go - I want to go - I want to go!! Do I sound impatient?!? We are planning to try at the 7 month mark for Nov/Dec of 2012. I am flexible with dates (me- retired -DH self employed). We love to travel in the fall since I was a teacher by profession and never got to travel except for times when the kids were out too. I figure I will call for early Nov. and just keep calling every day until I get a 1 bedroom for a week.

Thank you SO much for the beautiful pictures. I will continue to follow your post!

Oh awesome! Great pictures! I'll be following your blog and pictures in anticipation of my October visit! Thanks for sharing :)

Both are similar, although October can be a little cooler than September . In September starting around 9/17 the Aloha Festivals with events like the Waikiki Hoolaulea (block party) and the floral parade on 9/24.

From what I know at this time, no the public beach will not have life guards.

No Lifeguard sign by coconut wireless, on Flickr

The lagoon is relatively shallow with a gradual slope and the entrance structures help minimize the wave action inside the lagoon.

The Disney pools will have Pool Technicians

The volcano slide is on Puu Kino that's part of the Waikolohe Valley in between the two sections of the hotel. Only resort guests will be allowed into the area :-(

How is the Marriott Ko Alina property next door?
Yes, the Marriott Ihilani is right next door. They just finished an $18M renovation to try to freshen up the hotel to compete with Disney. A little down the road is their time share property. Ihilani has been the host hotel for the NFL Pro Bowl for a number of years and was the hotel where the girls worked in the movie Blue Crush.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos!

Thanks for sharing your pics! I can't wait to check it out in January!

It looks beautiful! I'm so excited to see it, and even more excited to stay there some time. We're going to be on Oahu next February, but sadly not to stay at Aulani! However, we are hoping to at least get out to see it one day while we're there, if we have time to slip away and can get access to a car. Or, according to your blog, it sounds like it's accessible by bus from Honolulu? That might help.

It's accessible by bus, but you have to walk in from Farrington Highway. If you get off at the Honokai Hale stop, it's 2 miles and if you get off by Waimanalo Gulch, it's a 3/4 mile walk to the resort. No city bus, as of right now, is going into the Ko Olina resort itself.

Thanks again very much!

Very glad to hear that the volcano slide will be restricted to resort guest only!
I think that reduces overcrowding! Only in my opinion fair that outsiders do not use hotel facilities for free!:goodvibes

I love Stormalong Bay at Beach Club Villas/Beach Club Resort at WDW!!! Similiar concept! Only resort guests can use facilities! In my opinion, there should be some ID system at all pools at WDW! Would reduce significantly overcrowding at pools...Not fair when guests are paying alot of money and locals use pools for free!

Thanks Again!!!!! Can't wait for Aulani 2013!!!!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

It looks beautiful!!! thank you for sharing, we hope to visit Hawaii for our fifth wedding anninversary

Thank you for sharing. Coming along nicely. Not sure when and if we will get there but would like to. My son is considering it as part of his honeymoon next year - September 2012.

Does Aulani provide transportation to/from the airport like ME? Are there rooms on the lower floors or are the lower floors public areas? This resort is for sure on my bucket list.

Thanks for all the information and beautiful pictures!
I already have my air fare for Jan. 30. Now I am counting the days until the 7month mark so I can call at 9 am and get my room!
