Aulani Fourth of July

We are booked for 7 nights at Aulani beginning June 27 2015. We want to stay a total of 9 nights but the night of July 4th (our 8th night) is unavailable in all of the room categories. I was able to wait list it and then make a separate reservation for our 9th night (July 5).

I know it is a holiday but it seems strange to me that that one night, and not always the surrounding ones, is unavailable in every room type and view.

Could they be holding them back for cash reservations or something? Probability of me getting my wait list night? We already have our flights so will have to figure something out for that random 8th night

It's a holiday, that falls on a Saturday night. A waitlist could open up for you, but no I'm not surprised at all that dvc is fully booked.

If there is cash availability, is there a DVC discount for booking cash reservations? Not that I really want to pay more $$ but since we already have our flights we are kind of in a bind if we don't get that 8th night. We are new to this process so sorry if this is common knowledge and I'm just missing it.

The answer is maybe. Call MS and ask. Discounts are 25% on DVC properties, and are not always available. Fourth of July seems iffy at best, but asking is free.

If the discount is available, go ahead and book it now since you're committed to the dates by airfare, and later cancel the cash room if your waitlist comes through. Or consider staying a night at another hotel in the area, or even just the one night at a cheap place by the airport.

Great advice to book that one night via cash. Like it was said earlier just cancell if waitlis come through. Also you can book one night at marriotts koolina beach club. That is the only ither hotel open out here at koolina. The airport is about 30 minutes away.

Called MS this morning and asked About a cash reservation. They had availability but no discount because of the prime holiday night. She did find a studio had opened up for that night so I just snagged that to have something and will just hope for my wait list to come through so we don't have to move rooms twice!
