Hi all!
I just received a booklet on Disney's new Hawaiian resort, Aulani in the mail and headed over to their website and :worship: it looks absolutely beautiful...until you get to the pricing :scared1: For our family of 3 from a Sat to Sat it's 3382...and that's just the room. Does anyone have any ideas how much the dining is going to run? Comparable to the Disney resorts or even more inflated since it's Hawaii? I would love, love, love to go but if I have to budget as much as I'm fearing I think I'd rather take my money on a dream trip to Italy...

You could always rent DVC points from a member. I think the going price is $10/point, so depending on when you are going and the accommodations it might work out to be cheaper.

That IS insane IMO.

If you can't find a discounted rate...go to Italy! Especially since it looks like you are on the E. Coast. I'd take Italy in a heartbeat.

we are going to Italy in January! I can't wait!

I'm sure that's "rack rate".....where does anyone ever pay rack rate? They might not have to deal or put discounts out there at first.

Yeah, that's pretty expensive. I checked for a week in October of 2011 and found a room for about 2800 for a week. I think I'd put the money in the bank and wait for Italy. A note...rooms in Hawaii are pretty expensive at a 'resort.' I'd guess you could find a condo for about $350 a night with a full kitchen but still no view. Good luck. I just don't think it's necessary to go 'disney' in Hawaii.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! I think we are going to bank the $ and save it for Italy. DH brought up a good point yesterday...he'll be ok if he never makes it to Hawaii but he won't be if he never makes it to Italy. I feel the same! Not to mention airfare for 3 to Hawaii was running $2800 :scared1::scared1: Ridiculous!!!

Do you mind sharing your vacation details with me? Where you're going, what you're seeing? Any planning tips or travel books you found helpful? I've tried getting started on planning but I don't even know where to start...I can do Disney with my eyes closed but Italy's a whole other ball game.
