Aulani booking question-modifying or separate reservations?

We are hoping to reserve a grand villa in Aulani for 2.17-2.21. I will be using mostly banked points from our 3 contracts, as the total reservation requires 488 points, and I have 435 banked points (of which 135 are from Aulani). I was worried with it being on a holiday weekend, so I booked the 2.17 using my banked Aulani points. Do I make a separate reservation on 7.18 to cover 2.18-2.21, or can I modify the original reservation starting 7.17 and add on the additional days? It's awkward because I only want to use the banked points and then use current use year Animal Kingdom to cover the remaining balance. Sorry if this is such a simple answer....as long as I'v been a member I've not had this issue before. Thanks for any advice!

Since you booked the night of thr 17th with home resort booking, that will lock the contract so if you modify, it will want to take current UY points before taking AKV.

If you do it on the 18th, you can choose just the AKV contract…and then have MS merge them.

I think it has to do with OP wanting to use current UY points from their AKV contract instead of the current UY points from AUL. Because the original reservation was made in the 11-month window with the AUL contract, the system will pull all of the current AUL points before using any AKL, but OP wants to use the AKL points first for the added nights. Hence the call to MS to apply the AKL points instead.

The difference, unless I misunderstood the question, was that this person wanted to only use the banked points, and fill in with the other home resort points for the rest. They did not want to use current UY points from the AUL contract as well.

In the other example, they didn't want to change any points from the first contract....just add nights with the other contract....ie: use all VGF points and then use just SSR for the last night.

If you don't want to use all the points available in the contract used for the initial booking, then you can't modify and just add because it will take current UY points.

So, for this case, I read it as they only want banked AUL points to be used, and then have it pick up contract #2....since the AUL contract will be locked, when they modify to check contract #2, it will first use banked points from both, and then go back and use up the current AUL contract points, before finishing with the current from contract #2.

You interpreted my question exactly as I meant it. And I'm so glad I actually booked the 17th with my banked Aulani points, as I expected...it's now sold out. Will be making the remainder of my reservation tomorrow. Thanks!

You should be able to call today and add the remaining days using your other contract. Just call MS!

I just called member services and the advisor told me since I was using banked non-Aulani points I had to wait til the 18th. So I'll be up and checking at 7!
