Has anyone stayed at Aulani for Christmas? What is it like during the holidays? We will be a party of 6 (DH, myself, DD19, DS16, my mom and my dad). We are thinking either 2 studios or a 2 bedroom but really want the ocean view so the 2 bedroom is a stretch. Anyone stayed in a studio? Last time we were there we did a 1 bedroom and it was fine for the 4 of us but not sure how we'd like a studio.

I would go for a 2BR if you can possible stretch the points. With Christmas you might want a living room to gather in with the family. And you have more options for dining with a kitchen in the room.

A studio is 356 square feet and a 1 BR is 756 sq. ft. which is a lot bigger than a studio.

Have you looked at the Aulani Villas and Views thread? There are mainly photos of the views with very few photos of the rooms.

There are some photos on DVCNews.com of the rooms and the hotel area. There are actually two types of studios, one with larger straight balcony in Ewa Building, and the other with an angled smaller balcony with room for only two. The studio also has angled area where the pullout couch is located. The room was a little less open because of the angle and sometimes the pullout couch did not face the TV.

I vote for the 2 bedroom for Christmas! You can use the kitchen to make Christmas cookies for Santa and popcorn for movie night! (Or Cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning!) There will be a living area for everyone to gather and open presents (so you don't have people sitting on the bed during this time). If you're a close family, borrow the points if needed but I'd go for the 2 bed!

We've been twice at Christmas, and have stayed both times in a 2 bedroom Oceanview. Frankly, the ocean view 2 bedrooms were the easiest to get-the studios, and the non ocean views were gone by the time our booking window opened. The resort is beautifully decorated for the holidays, as long as you realize it's a tropical themed Christmas.

Do you remember how long they had it decorated for Christmas? Might go a couple days after Christmas, but would love to see it all decorated.
